Anyone Get The Same Pain As Me

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

Firstly i would like to say what a great forum. I have not yet been diagnosed with Celiac Disease but am waiting for my blood tests to come through. I have been experiencing stomach pains for almost 8 months now. The pain is a dull continous pain just under the top of my left ribs. I have been diagnosed with having diverticular disease (after CT Scan) and the doctor left it as that. After a few weeks on the recommended high fibre diet the pain has still not gone. I went back to the doctors 4 days ago and told them that the pain i am experiencing is not diverticular pain as it is not intermitent. The specialist said it is one of 2 things. 1 being IBS and the other being Celiac disease.

The pain in my stomach like is said is constant in the upper stomach but also get pain in my lower right and left abdomen areas, and something bellybutton is sensitive. Is anyone else experiencing pain in these areas, especially the top left of the abdomen?

With being diagnosed with diverticular disease my diet changed to fish, chicken, vegetables and fruits. During these diets my stomach woul have spells of not hurting but stupid me would take the oppertunity to eat anything. This only brough the pain back.

I am on the gluten free diet now and have been for 4 days without improvement.

The doctor has put me on an antispasmodic medication, as anyone else on this medication.

Thanks

Hello and welcome. I also suffered from the type of pain you refered to and like you my doctor attributed it to my extensive diverticuli and left it at that. I also was given antispasmotics along with a host of other meds. Gluten free the pain has disappeared. Didn't happen overnight but it didn't take months either. I saw a big difference within a couple of weeks.

Read as much as you can on the board and become as familiar with crosscontamination and other non-food related issues as well as the general diet. It is a bit of a learning curve but if gluten is your problem the lifestyle adjustments are well worth the trouble of getting used to it. I hope you have found your answer and are feeling better soon.

I do get very similar symptoms on gluten - pain on the left upper abdomen, plus lower. Mine is mostly left-sided, actually. My children know without me telling them when I've had gluten because I start rubbing my belly on the left.

It can take longer than 4 days for symptoms to begin to subside, especially if this is the first time you've gone gluten free. I try to remember that it took years for the damage to happen to my intestines, so I shouldn't be too surprised that it takes awhile to heal.

Even now, when I accidentally ingest some gluten, it takes at least 1 to 2 weeks for me to feel like myself again.

Hang in there, you will probably be surprised by how good you start to feel.

I have been diagnosed with Celiacs disease since March of 2004, and even now when I make a mistake and "Glutenize" myself it always hurts on my left side just under my ribs, that medicine never did help me--but everyone is different. Good Luck with everything!

Sorry to the person who started this topic, I think his name was Whattodo, I somehow put my name on your topic as having started it, but I just came on here and have not gotten the hang of it completely yet, I have never been on a forum ever, so I apologize.
