Is Biopsy Necessary?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Two of my three daughters have just received positive blood test results for celiac. We've yet to meet with a specialist, but our pediatrician said a biospy would need to be done. I wondered if anyone had any thoughts or experience with this; my daughters are 4 and 6 and I really do not want to put them through a biospy if we don't need to. Is a postive blood test result enough? We plan on going gluten free regardless. I appreciate any responses.

I heard that this is hereditary, should my sisters get their sons to have a blood test. They are all under the age of 8, but 2 of them already have a lactose intolerance and one of them has a severe peanut allergy.
