Any Trouble With Endoscopy?

My son is getting his tomorrow morning. I can't wait until it's over. I hate doing this to him. I could see if he needed emergency surgery. But he doesn't. I'm not sure why a blood test now and then a blood test in 3 months isn't indication enough. Are they looking for something other than the villi? How often is the endoscopy inconclusive? Sorry, you probably get tons of posts like this.

'Cause doctors are pedantic that way. I think blood test results and positive response to the diet should be enough, but some want to know how much damage there is. I'm not sure that it changes anything in the treatment, though.

My daughter's results were negative but she still had problems which have been relieved by the diet. She was very combative when coming out of the sedative, not that she remembers, but it was difficult on us. No one warned us that she might be that way - like fighting sleep times 100. Also, her IV had been in the hand which she sucks her thumb and she was upset that she could not get to her thumb. I didn't even think to request it be put in the other hand. She didn't have any problems from the procedure. Best of luck - I hope you get some answers.

My daughter Age 4 had no problem with the biopsy.....I too had a biopsy and it wasn't tramatic. The more stress you show your young one - the more they will have - we treated it as something that had to be done - lets do it.....my daughter also had one done at age 3. age 3 showed nothing, but age 4 yes....slight damage but it was there. The team in the hospital should tell You the stages of them Waking up, combative is normal, rubbing the nose is normal.

Good Luck

Dawn

All seemed to go well. Glad it's over. I can call Monday for the results.

Mine is definitely triggered by inflammation and stress! I do also have arthritis in my spine, but the pain is more in my pelvic area. Im sure i have other food intolerances or other autoimmune isues but the more I focus on it and see doctor after doctor, it just gets worse.  Best thing is get of Gluten! (I also avoid lactose). Try to limit stress and anything that causes inflammation in your body.

Good morning,   I got an email about replies to this post. Some of my doctors had blamed a slipped disc for the pain I had and that contributes, but after meeting with a gastroenterologist AGAIN and trying some lifestyle modifications, I found out I have IBS and can't tolerate corn or excessive fructose to any degree. Cutting out corn AFTER having cut out all gluten containing products was a real pain but I feel much better now!

So, I contacted Scott Adams, the author of that article and also the creator/admin of this website, and pointed out to him the need to clarify the information in the paragraph in question. He has now updated the paragraph and it is clear that the DGP-IGA does serve the purpose of circumventing the false negatives that IGA deficiencies can generate in the tTG-IGA antibody test.

Has anyone experimenced enlarged lymph nodes with celiac? Both in the neck and groin area. Imaging of both areas have said that lymph nodes are reactive in nature. However, they have been present for months and just wondering how long this may take to go down. Been gluten-free for about two months. Blood counts are normal.
