Ibuprofen

hi everyone...

Just wondering if anyone knows a brand of ibuprofen that is gluten free.

We have a bottle from Jewel/Osco that is their store brand. I called to see if it was gluten free & they couldn't tell me because I didn't still have the box with the UPC...they said that some lots are made with gluten & some aren't & that they can't tell by the lot # on the bottle, that they need the UPC.

Before I go buy another bottle & have to call & wait 48 hours to see if that batch is gluten free, can anyone tell me a brand name that is safe all the time?

Thanks!!

~Joni

I've never actually checked into it, but I have taken the Costco brand by the handful and never had a problem.

Ditto for Costco as well as Equate (Wal-Mart), CVS, and BJ's.

I know this is an old thread, but: my 16 yr old daughter is gluten and sugar free. Also severe migraine sufferer. Ibuprofen is all that works, but reading ingredients makes me wonder about all ibuprofens -- she not only needs the gluten free kinds, but nothing with any polydextrose or other sugar based ingredients. Does anyone have any further information on this? or on other gluten free OTC meds?

Thanks!

Hello!

I have celiac's and have been suffering from daily migraines for a long time. I take a butterber supplement and it is a miracle plant! I haven't had a migraine in the 6 months I have been on it, and it is gluten free.

Hope this helps!

Do you mind posting the Brand Name of the Butterbur Supplement and how much you take to manage your migraines?

I can't take Ibuprofen due to Salicylate intolerance.

I have menstrual migraines and wondered it this Butterbur might work for that?

Do you know? Thank you.

Yes, wheat is common in most soy sauces now because it speeds up the fermenting process.

For 16 years I have relied on the website glutenfreedrugs.com to determine if a pharmaceutical is gluten-free. The website has been down for at least a week. Does anyone have any information about this outage, the status of the website founder and maintainer pharmacist Steven A. Plogsted or a phone number? I did not get a response for my email to glutenfreedrugs@gmail.com in October of 2022. Steven did respond to my emails in 2012. Thanks.

Sounds like you are in the UK. With blood numbers that high, I thought docs in UK would give an official diagnosis without the biopsy. You should ask about that, so you can get support faster.  I'd try to find and print out anything that supports that in your country, get another appointment and take all of it with you. Even in the US now, some docs are doing this, my 19 year old step granddaughter got an official diagnosis here in US with just blood results a few months ago.

Is soy sauce in Korea also made from wheat like it usually is in US? I'd be concerned that even if asking about gluten, they would not be aware of or think of some like that.

That's a good idea. It can at least establish the potential for developing celiac disease and can help people decided between a celiac diagnosis and NCGS (Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity). And it doesn't require a gluten challenge and can be had without a doctor's prescription.
