Love it. dust it on lightly mixed with mint (mixed together in the lid) or just by itself. It seems to make the next layer of foundation soooooo much nicer

So Jestgar, would this be good to use as a primer under foundation only--I don't use a color corrector.

Nice of you to reinforce the 'or by itself' part for other post scanners

I like the silk dust too. If my skin was nice I would probably order some tinted silk dust and just wear that instead of foundation. It gives a really smooth and pretty finish.

Silk dust=in my cart :D

I am loving how good my skin looks since I have been using the lavendar everyday everywear as a night treatment on the dry spots.

This is good to hear Colleen :)

And to think they were going to discontinue the Silk Dust

But they didn't get an answer back.

Ok cosmetically talented, cosmetistas, cult members extraordinaire, WHAT is the difference then between the Silk Dust and the the Finishing Dust??

ooooh ooooh I know the answer! :D

Silk Dust = pure silk plus black currant powder (the black currant powder is a new addition that causes slight grainy-ness, which in turn caused some unhappy customers, which is why they considered discontinuing it, I think. Unless Carina was just trying to trick everybody into admitting that they still actually loved the silk dust.

Finishing Powder = corn starch plus some minerals. The is more like BE's Mineral Veil. It gives a nice airbrushed, flawless look, but some people don't like putting cornstarch on their face.

I think silk dust is more like a primer/skin treatment/moisture enhancing and oil absorbing product, while finishing dust just creates a pretty finish. I like the way finishing dust looks and I use it more than silk dust, but silk dust is probably better for the skin..

....um what was the question again, and what the heck am I talking about?:lol:

Mango04 Enthusiast

Now I have a question....

Has anybody ever determined what kind of vegetable oil they use in the everywear stuff?

eh, they also said they would release a new pressed powder shade every week, and that never happened. I think they're just busy gearing up for some huge changes over there, and I think we're going to like them when they are finally revealed. :D

p.s. I really like my pressed powder. I carry it around in my purse for touch ups. It's heavy foundation coverage, but some oil blotter papers plus a dab of pressed powder is perfect for a mid-day "face revival" LOL. Just thought I'd share. :P

I emailed them on Monday to ask about a return I made, and also ask when the next special would be out. They answered the question about the return, but made no mention of the special. I can sort of understand why they are not saying when they will post a new one, but I really want a new special! it makes so much difference in what I can and will buy.

Oh - and I like that this makeup is gluten free. I figure we have to keep mentionin gluten to keep this thread out of "Gab land". I don't have time to count farts. :)

Thanks for the explanation, Mango. I think I get the difference--I have Mineral Veil, and to tell you the truth, I'm not that thrilled with it. It always "showed" on my skin, and I thought the whole idea of it was to just give a finished look--not have a presence itself.

Plus, I went through a period of almost 2 years where I needed to cut out corn, as I was intolerant. I didn't want to wear it, either, so it has just sat in my makeup box.

I think I'll like the Silk Dust better. :)

Yeah, you probably would.

For anyone wanting pure silk powder, you can get it from The Conservatorie. $6 for a whole oz (that's a really good deal).

Ah, poopies....now I want SILK DUST (and the pure silk powder sounds really good). j

Those were the days....70 pages ago...when we were all capable of ordering only $3.97 worth of make-up from EM..... LOL

Ah the good ole day. Day = not a typo... It lasted only 1 day for me. :P

I am a newbie, and still not capable of a little order...its going to be hard when i do my sisters samples, cuz i am going to want to get stuff for myself too....

Yep, from day 2 onward, lol.

Must try this...when I get it that is.

Oh, same for me...the mineral veil ALWAYS showed on me...I hardly ever used it, but I LOVED the brush I got with it, lol.

Forgot to mention...does anyone else notice that different colors, as in blush or eye shadow look different with different foundations?

Maybe this just applies to me since I have four different colors of foundation that look good on me and that I use regularly, but I noticed today that Favorite Hoodie, which I loved last time I used it, didn't look quite as nice today, and the only thing I can think of that is different is the color of foundation I was wearing...well that and the fact that I didn't get any sleep last night and my body is probably spewing toxins as we speak. :P So I'm thinking I need to revisit all the colors I haven't been gaga over and see if they look better with the other foundations, lol.

ewalton Newbie
That's what I think about other websites too. None of them are quite as great as EM's.

Putting on the foundation wet makes it really smooth, and the coverage is a bit heavier I think (but in a good way). It's also less messy that way, and it hides pores really nicely.

I tried it out today, and OMG my skin looked so good! Up close you could really see that I was wearing makeup, though. I tried applying eyeliner wet too, and I really liked that. It's much easier and less powder winds up on my cheeks that way.

All this talk of ordering...I must confess I considered ordering today anyway, even without a special, but I KNOW I'd kick myself it they put up another one anytime this week, lol.

I....I did order today. I just couldn't wait any more.

Now there's gonna be a special tomorrow, I just know it!

You would have so much fun making your own nail polish shades! :D

Did you guys have any idea how many mineral make-up companies there are??? It seems like there are hundreds of them all of a sudden! Maybe I should start one! LOL

Making your own nail polish sounds so fun! I had to click away from that pretty quick because I already have a ton of nail polish....

I had no idea how many mineral makeup companies there were. I'd heard of BE, and I kinda knew there were some others, but wow! Look, there's even one for people who like cats: Open Original Shared Link I think that one is my next favorite after EM, 'cause they just took their theme and really ran with it!

Patti, that's how I've been using it for several months. I like it. Then I also finish with a light dust of this.

When I first started using it I noticed it helped clear up blemishes.

Interesting, Donna. I didn't notice this but it makes sense. What I noticed was that some of the colors that I wear in clothing that are really good for me...didn't look so good with certain foundations. I haven't tried the other blushes with the foundation I am now using (sun-kissed fair), but I will now.

I am thinking that I need to move as much toward the lilac/purple hues as possible for blush color, and maybe eye? Has anyone tried Splendid??

Hey all!

Just came from the EM website and some changes are being made. They are adding a Wish List Button to several sections. Very cool!

I did add some stuff to my cart at Monave - I'm sure I will be ordering from them some time...and nail polish is in my cart. lol!

Now to catch up on the posts here.

dlp252 Apprentice

So, after reading Joni's post, I went over to PLAY with the wish list thing, lol. I tried putting one of the kits in there, but it didn't work...I think it was the personal mini kit, but I put two other kits (full sized products) in there and it worked. So I've got the 6-piece full size kit going in there now, lol. I have just two more products to add, but I can't decided...

The pressure is getting to me...

Ack, what shall I choose! :P

He is not just a psychiatrist.  He is also a neuroscientist.  And yes, I have already read those studies.   I agree with benfotiamine.  This is short term while glutened/inflammation occurs.  As I had already mentioned, these symptoms no longer exist when this phase passes.  And yes, I know that celiac is a disease of malnutrition.  We are working with a naturopath.

Please do more research before you settle on nicotine. Dr. Paul New house is a psychiatrist.  His latest study involves the effect of nicotine patches on Late Life Depression which has reached no long term conclusions about the benefits.   Effects of open-label transdermal nicotine antidepressant augmentation on affective symptoms and executive function in late-life depression https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/39009312/   I'm approaching the subject from the Microbiologist's point of view which shows nicotine blocks Thiamine B1 uptake and usage:   Chronic Nicotine Exposure In Vivo and In Vitro Inhibits Vitamin B1 (Thiamin) Uptake by Pancreatic Acinar Cells https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26633299/   While supplementation with thiamine in the form Benfotiamine can protect from damage done by  nicotine: Benfotiamine attenuates nicotine and uric acid-induced vascular endothelial dysfunction in the rat https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18951979/   I suggest you study the beneficial effects of Thiamine (Benfotiamine and TTFD) on the body and mental health done by Dr. Derrick Lonsdale and Dr. Chandler Marrs.  Dr. Lonsdale had studied thiamine over fifty years.   Hiding in Plain Sight: Modern Thiamine Deficiency https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8533683/ I suggest you read their book Thiamine Deficiency Disease, Dysautonomia, and High Calorie Malnutrition.     Celiac Disease is a disease of malabsorption causing malnutrition.  Thiamine and benfotiamine: Focus on their therapeutic potential https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10682628/

Thanks for your response.  Everything you mentioned he is and has been doing.  Tobacco is not the same as nicotine.  Nicotine, in the form of a patch, does not cause gastrointestinal irritation.  Smoking does. He is not smoking.  Please do your research before stating false information. Dr. Paul Newhouse has been doing research on nicotine the last 40 years at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Im so frustrated and still getting the run around trying to reprove my celiac disease which my past primary ignored for 25 years.I understand that theres a ray of medical that doctors are limited too but not listening and telling the patient ( me) that im not as sensitive as I think and NOT celiac!Correction Mr white coat its not what I think but for cause and affect and past test that are not sticking in my medical records.I get sick violently with foods consumed, not eating the foods will show Im fabulous. After many blood draws and going through doctors I have the HLA- DQ2 positive which I read in a study that Iran conducted that the severity in celiac is in that gene.Im glutenfree and dealing with related issues which core issue of celiac isn't addressed. My skin, right eye, left leg diagestive issues affected. I have high blood pressure because im in pain.Im waisting my time on trying to reprove that Im celiac which is not a disease I want, but unfortunately have. It  has taken over my life personally and professionally. How do I stop getting medically gaslight and get the help needed to bounce back if I ever do bounce back to normal? I thought I was in good care with " celiac specialist " but in her eyes Im good.Im NOT.Sibo positive, IBS, Chronic Fatigue just to name a few and its all related to what I like to call a ghost disease ( celiac) since doctors don't seem to take it seriously.
    • trents
@Martha Mitchell, your reaction to the lens implant with gluten sounds like it could be an allergic reaction rather than a celiac reaction. It is possible for a celiac to be also allergic to gluten as it is a protein component in wheat, barley and rye.
