And now I'm extremely bloated. How do I know if it's the fiber, or if I'm having a reaction?

I only ate 1/2 cup.

Unless you bloat from other fiber sources, veggies, fruits and other gluten free grains I would think you are reacting. What other reactions are you now experiencing? If it was a gluten type of reaction, (not all celiacs tolerate oats) it may take a day or two for the D or C to hit.

It sounds to me like you're not tolerating it well. Does it matter if it's from the fiber or the protein? It's not a food you can comfortably eat, period.

hi, you might be having problems with the oats becuase their can be cross contamination. there is a site www.onlyoats.ca this is a farmer from saskatewan who only produces gluten free oats. check out the site, their stuff is awesome.

I tried the new gluten free oats as well and couldn't tolerate them. I was SO hoping that I could! I miss my morning oatmeal so bad, but I've gotten used to quinoa. I cook it, then add a sliced banana, a little almond milk, chopped walnuts and raw sugar or honey right before taking it off the burner. It's really good!

Anyway, with the oats, I was in the bathroom for three days, then broke out in blisters. :(

      Celiac Emotional Healing Support Group
       
       
       
      Again you are invited to join Johnny Patout, LCSW for Baton Rouge's first emotional healing support group meeting to assist those living with celiac disease manage the emotional challenges so many of us face. Most often the emotional disturbances include depression, disinterest in normal activities, insomnia, grief, mood changes, anxiety, inability to concentrate, extreme concern about managing a gluten-free lifestyle and other emotional and behavioral challenges.
       
      The professionals at Jamestown Avenue Counseling Center created the emotional healing support group to give us a safe place to begin to process our emotions and support each other as we heal emotionally while managing celiac disease and the resulting autoimmune disorders.
       
      The emotional healing support group meets every Thursday, 6:00-7:00pm, at the Jamestown Avenue Counseling Center of Baton Rouge. Jamestown Avenue Counseling Center is located at 4637 Jamestown Avenue, Baton Rouge, Suite B-1. Suite B-1 is upstairs.

It is not a rash, but hives and swelling.  Some doctors think it is a separate autoimmune disorder or that it piggybacks on to others.  It is more commonly associated with autoimmune thyroiditis.   My last bout lasted for six months.  They appeared (from my head to my soles of my feet) every afternoon around 4:00 pm and resolved by morning.  Oddly, they start with abdominal pain.  That is my first clue and next an itchy head.  I was on a cocktail of antihistamines and attempted a low histam
