I've always been normal on tests, but just had a routine metabolic panel run and my alt/sgpt was elevated. I have not been formally diagnosed as celiac or gluten sensitive and am not a typical celiac. I just figured it out for myself after years of going round and round with the medical profession.

Now I read that elevated alt/sgpt is often elevated in celiacs and that a gluten-free diet will lower it. The thing is that my test was a month into my gluten-free diet. The test I had last summer, before I started this diet, was normal. Has this happened to anybody else?

Other than that, my fifth week gluten free is going very well. It may be difficult to do, but it sure does feel better!!
