Muffins Mix Making Me Sick

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Has any other Australians out there found that they are having a reaction to the gluten free 'orange and poppyseed muffins' available at safeway/woolworths? It is a packet mix that you make up yourself. I have tried them twice and had a gluten like reaction. I think the product is a safeway brand.

Gluten Free Since mid March 2008

As well as gluten I can't eat: cantaloupe, honeydew, dairy and most nuts and seeds. I also seem to have a problem with a lot of fruits and vegetables but only when they are raw.

Hi,

I have actually thrown out the packet, but I had a brief scan and couldn't see anything that was wheat based or might contain gluten. It was just the usual stuff: soy, rice and tapioca flour etc.

Its hard to say without seeing the packet but I would be thinking glucose syrups, frucose, or Maltitol all which have reacted with me. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maltitol. And then there is the dairy etc if you are sensitive to that. Try another brand perhaps and see if they are better <_< .

You also may be reacting to the soy, or even the poppy seeds, I can't have either! Actually, I can't have any of those ingredients, but if you can have them in other products, then that may not be the problem for you.
