How much testing should one get after finding out they had Celiac Disease?

I want to be as proactive as I can. I don't cheat. I just want to take every step I can to getting healthy again.

I have very good coverage for this type of illness. I also have plenty of time to go to the doctor's office.

Would once a month for blood work for the first couple of months be too much? How about the GI doctor. Another endoscope after six months? Anyone set up a schedule you would like to share? Any help would be great.

Thanks

How often should follow-up testing occur?

New celiacs should receive follow-up testing twice in the first year after their diagnosis. The first appointment should occur three to six months after the diagnosis, and the second should occur after 1 year on the gluten-free diet. After that, a celiac should receive follow-up testing on a yearly basis.

Monthly bloodwork would probably not be needed. It often takes several months for the antibody counts to decline measurably. Many GI doctors do not recommend a follow-up endoscopy. I believe in Dr. Green's book he says you should have a follow up endoscopy after 3 years or so.

Hope this helps.

Thanks.
