How To Get An Appt With A Specialist

Recommended Posts

i've been reading a lot from new posters who say they can't get into see a specialist for many weeks or months. i was very fortunate to only have to wait 2 weeks after my blood work came back to see a GI and then only a week after that to have the biopsy. i think the main reason was because i explained to every doctor, nurse and receptionist who would listen that i needed to get in ASAP because i was moving and my insurance was going to lapse at the end of the month. it worked like a charm - i would have gone crazy if i had to wait 6 weeks at a time between appointments.

i just wanted to share my experience with everyone...maybe it'll help someone!

Another way to get in faster is to have your referring doc call the specialist and ask for an appointment for you. They somehow manage to find time to slot you in if a doctor's asking for the appointment!

Or you can call about cancellations every morning, but that gets old...

Gluten-Free since September 15, 2005.
