Kind Of New And Need Some Help

Hi, I'm new here although I have been lurking for several weeks and learned so much! Thank you all!

I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease in February 2008. I have never had severe digestive issues but I could always tell if I accidentally ate gluten. I would get a stomachache, mild D, gas and fatigue. As time passed I would get those symptoms plus a migraine and an itchy rash on my wrist, jawbone and eyelids. Now, and I assume it's from gluten, my whole face gets blotchy red and terribly itchy and my eyes swell up. I may or may not have D and I may or may not have the wrist rash. I am so frustrated because I am being so careful! My whole house is gluten free, I don't eat out any more and I have double checked all my personal products. HELP! Could this be something else?? Thank you so much for any advice or suggestions!

A lot of Celiacs react to Soy and Dairy just as they do to Gluten. I would try removing these for a few months and see how it goes. If all goes well, you can try to reintroduce them at some point. Some are able to eat dairy just fine after their intestines heal entirely. Soy is a bothersome food for MANY.

And welcome!

You may want to have your rash checked to see if it is Dermatitis Herpetiformus, which is how celiac disease sometimes manifests itself. If that's what you have, from what I understand, they can prescibe a cream. Check out this link for more info. http://www.csaceliacs.org/

You may also want to see if it is caused by an allergy to some other food or substance. I would check into DH first as you already have celiac disease diagnosis.
