Lay's Stax "gluten Free" Label!

Recommended Posts

My DW bought a tube of "Lay's Stax". They are the same thing as Pringles basically. I was looking at the label expecting to find the dreaded "modified food starch" which would mean uncertainty and thus my inability to enjoy them, when I saw printed on the side of the can right above the bar code, "This product is naturally free of gluten." :o

Other than on specialty health products, I have never seen this on any other packaged food before. How nice would it be if everybody did this? I don't normally eat a lot of this type of thing, but you can bet I'll be getting these from now on, as long as they keep this text on the label!

The Lays Staxx chips say are gluten free. I've even heard they are made on a dedicated gluten free line. MFS can contain gluten but it doesn't always you just have to check with the manufacturer. I eat Staxx all the time and I am sooo happy that they even have "this product is naturally free of gluten" right on it!!! They are starting to get it :D

I know--that's terrific! This is a big step--now companies not only have gluten-free lists or ingredient listing policies, but a name-brand mainstream company wrote gluten-free on the package the way a specialty food company would in a health food store! A major victory for us all...maybe some other companies will follow this lead :)

I had heard about this before....and also about the dedicated lines Kaiti mentioned.

. . .A standard US definition and rules for what glutenfree is would be good someday.

Remember that a lot of products are naturally glutenfree but are not made on dedicated lines so you have to check to make sure.

Luckily, these are.

My whole family LOVES Lays Stax! The pizza flavor didn't say it on the label, so I called the company while I was in the store and they assured me that ALL of the Stax line is gluten free, and they sent me coupons and stickers a pencil and a temp tattoo all for my little girl. They also sent me a current list of all of there gluten-free products. I love Frito Lays!!!!
