The Whole Foods Allergy Cookbook by Cybele Pascal pub. 2006 by Vital Health Publishing $18.95

"Two hundred courmet & homestyle recipes for the food allergic family"

"Delicious whole foods recipes free of milk, eggs, wheat, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, fish and shellfish"

I picked this book up at our library. It is an *allergy* book, rather than a gluten-free book. Although the baked goods and some other foods call for barley or oat flours, one could easily substitute G.F. flours.

All baked goods aside, it has recipes for a wide variety of foods - both the usual "American" fare, but many recipes that are derived from other parts of the world.

The recipes in this book are an eclectic mix, as my culinary influences are varied. In addition to an ancestral hodgepodge that includes Southern, Italian and Jewish food, I have worked at many wonderful restaurants over the years, learned the cuisines of France, the West Indies, traditional New England, eclectic Nouvelle-American, and Japan.

None of her recipes contain egg (a real plus for me with egg allergy). She relies on EnerG egg replacer and uses it in ways I had never thought of - like in meatloaf!.

I'm excited to start trying some of these unusual but yummy-looking recipes like Cuban beans and rice, Penne with Cauliflower and Olives, coconut milk rice pudding..... Those of you who like eggplant, there are quite a few recipes using that.

My husband is going to have to suffer through another cookbook experimenting time - but he's a good sport. It's good to expand one's cooking repertoire.
