hello there...first post!

i've been having severe stomache pains for over a year and i just recently started to keep track of my diet. at first i thought it was dairy so i nixed the cream cheese on my bagels...then i thought it was coffee so i nixed caffiene from my diet...then my doctor suggested trying gluten free for a while. i did it for a week and my stomache aches seemed to be less frequent. i also noticed pickles and olives give me a bit of a stomache issue as well.

i recently had blood taken and the tests were for my glucose levels and my thyroid... do either of those aide in testing for celiac or gluten intolerance?

my doctor mentioned testing me for celiac but i'm not very organized when it comes to making appointments so i haven't gotten back to her on that issue.

my blood test came back normal, but i can't seem to figure out what is wrong with me. i have about 80% of the symptoms of celiac...! please help!

Welcome.

No, glucose tests and thyroid test will not dx Celiac in anyway. You can have blood sugar problems and thyroid problems AND be Celiac. But the only way to get dx Celiac is to get a Celiac Blood test performed first. Then a biopsy if necessary.

You should make that appt. and get tested.

      Hi Scott, yes I have had symptoms for years and this is the second GI I have seen and he could not believe I have never been tested. He called later today and I am scheduled for an endoscopy. Is there a way to tell how severe my potential celiac is from the results above? What are the chances I will have the biopsy and come back negative and we have to keep searching for a cause?

      I agree christina, there is definitely many contributing factors! I have the pain today, my pelvis, hips and thighs ache! No idea why. But i have been sitting at work for 3 days so im thinking its my back. This disease is very mysterious (and frustrating) but not always to blame for every pain.
