New Food Allergies?

Okay so I haven't posted in a while. But here's the deal.

I am 100% positive I am not even getting CC glutened. My DH is back. And about 3 weeks ago I started getting extremely sick and I'd throw up after almost every meal. About 2 weeks ago, an event in my life caused me to become depressed and lose appetite so I haven't been eating much... This is what I noticed.

I bread my own chicken with almond flour and when I ate my chicken with ketchup, I got sick. But the next day I ate some gluten-free pork chops and applesauce, no sickness. Then I made my own mozzerella sticks (almond flour) and had marinara sauce and got sick. Then I made gluten-free pasta and it was rice noodles with just spaghetti sauce, got sick. then i ate an apple and cheese and was fine. The only consistent factor in my sickness is that I eat tomato based products. So I'm eliminating it and so far I'm a bit better. I have an ulcer from stress so I'm still not perfect but I have not thrown up since I eliminated tomatoes 3 days ago.

Is it possible I have developed a tomato allergy? Or is it possible that the tomatoes mixed with the ulcer react like that? I'd love some input on this. Please save the lectures about not eating. I try, and the depression is getting better.

You can develop food allergies anytime. Especially if you eat A LOT of one particular food.

I'm thinking you may be more on track with the ulcer/tomato problem. Have you tried eating a tomato in it's whole form, as opposed to the processed, broken down form of it? I do know that tomato sauce + ulcer = no good. Tomato sauces are very acidic, and don't mix well with an ulcer. Could be your body's way of getting it out quickly before it causes further aggravation.

I have not tried eating a regular unprocessed tomato. I have a few cherry tomatoes in the fridge...perhaps I will try a salad when I get home...The ulcer is also improving with the treatment so 2 theories can be tested at once...if I react, I will test again when the ulcer is gone. Not looking forward to getting sick again though...

Sounds like you are in the UK. With blood numbers that high, I thought docs in UK would give an official diagnosis without the biopsy. You should ask about that, so you can get support faster.  I'd try to find and print out anything that supports that in your country, get another appointment and take all of it with you. Even in the US now, some docs are doing this, my 19 year old step granddaughter got an official diagnosis here in US with just blood results a few months ago.

Is soy sauce in Korea also made from wheat like it usually is in US? I'd be concerned that even if asking about gluten, they would not be aware of or think of some like that.

That's a good idea. It can at least establish the potential for developing celiac disease and can help people decided between a celiac diagnosis and NCGS (Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity). And it doesn't require a gluten challenge and can be had without a doctor's prescription.

I have my endoscopy on Thursday, has anyone had the procedure done with a cough? I don't have a continuous cough, but every now and then throughout the day I have sort of coughing episodes. They are a lot better than they were but I called endoscopy and they said to speak to my gp and my gp got back to me and said I need to ask endoscopy if its ok if I have it done still.  Help!

Thank you so much, everyone. For the moment my doctor just has me taking iron but hopefully we can reconnect soon. I'm going to look into genetic testing, too. Great advice all around and I appreciate it--and you can bet I'm going off the PPIs!
