I'm new to this site and have learned so much from you all already...diagnosed 1 1/2 years ago and still learning...not only can I not have gluten, but I am allergic to wheat, dairy, bananas and pineapples...though the allergy test results (maybe not conclusive at the time) did not show, I seem to be sensitive to some corn based products, soy and nightshade veggies also! :(

I am always reading labels and it's hard to find anything I feel safe with anymore...suggestions??? Anyone else out there have trouble with all of these things or am I alone?

Thanks.

I went off corn, soy, lactose for almost 3 years. The hardest thing to get away from was the high fructose corn syrup cause i'm TOTALLY a sweetooth and that was difficult to eliminate. I think the easiest thing to say (and sorry for this) is make most of you rown food, it makes things SO much easier. Then you knwo what you are eating, if you can still do lactose that is good becasue a lot of things that have soy are high in lactose. That was the hardest for me because i was off lactose and soy, so all the lactose replacements were soy based.

Mexican Coke is made with sugar instead of corn syrup so that is what i would drink for my soda fix.

I ate a lot of plain meat, no flavoring, just cooked with some olive oil, alot of balsamic vinegar and vinegars for flavoring adn spices.

It's hard to do but what is good is that i outgrew the corn soy and lactose things, so i'm back to just being gluten free now...It took a while but there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Could you post a typical day of what you eat? Thanks in advance. Your diet sounds tough. :)

You are not alone! I have multiple allergies, too, and I agree that corn is the hardest to avoid because its byproducts are in EVERYTHING. I have stopped buying most pre-made foods, and that is a really hard (and slow) transition to make, but it is how I stay away from unknown reactions. Once you get used to it, its not so weird or difficult. Also, over time you WILL find some products you can trust, though it can be a frustrating trial-and-error process. I know it sucks to hear that there isn't an easy way to live normally with multiple food allergies, but just know that you're not alone and that it takes time to find the right diet and products for you. And you'll feel SO much better not being exposed to your allergens, so it will be worth it!

So, I contacted Scott Adams, the author of that article and also the creator/admin of this website, and pointed out to him the need to clarify the information in the paragraph in question. He has now updated the paragraph and it is clear that the DGP-IGA does serve the purpose of circumventing the false negatives that IGA deficiencies can generate in the tTG-IGA antibody test.

Has anyone experimenced enlarged lymph nodes with celiac? Both in the neck and groin area. Imaging of both areas have said that lymph nodes are reactive in nature. However, they have been present for months and just wondering how long this may take to go down. Been gluten-free for about two months. Blood counts are normal.

Hmm interesting I just assumed that any “IGA” tests including the DPG iga would be negative in a person who is IGA deficient but maybe that is not the case for the DPG test.

If you were just diagnosed I can say that if you go 100% gluten-free should should see dramatic improvement of your symptoms over the next few months, but the hard part is to stay gluten-free. This article has some detailed information on how to be 100% gluten-free, so it may be helpful (be sure to also read the comments section.):
