My Mom Was Just Diagnosed With Cd...

Recommended Posts

Hi - My Mom was just diagnosed with celiac disease. I have found many helpful sights on the internet pertaining to gluten-free foods and drugs, however, how about hair color, deodorant, and toothpaste?

This is a very confusing time for us. I am extremely worried about her lack of appetite which I think is caused by the gas and abdominal pains. To the best of our knowledge, she has been gluten-free for approximately 3 weeks. Her specialist seems to think that the diet is working.

I find your forum extremely informative and would appreciate your feedback. Thank you.

Welcome :)...

Toothpaste....Crest, Colgate...most of them, really. Just avoid Sensodyne. Unless your mom gets bad rashes when gluten-containing products touch her skin (dh) she doesn't need to worry about deodorant.

Kraft clearly lists gluten so you don't need to call about natural or artificial flavors, modified food starch, starch, etc. Here are other companies that have the same labeling policy. With them you can just read the label for gluten...rather than calling:
