Safe Eateries In Manila And Tokyo?

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I am going to be in Tokyo, Manila, Bangkok and Cambodia for the next two weeks. Packing a lot of gluten-free bars but I hope to be able to eat a real meal every once in a while. I am staying at great places as part of official govt travel but still, besides the hotel, and even then can be leery, are there any places anyone can recommend or any sites that have reviews of great restaurants in these areas that I can be directed too? Most worried about Manila since that is where I will spend the majority of my time. thanks!

HI, I can give you names in Tokyo of great restaurants but no one speaks English at them.

Matoi Sushi in Shiba Diamon TOkyo -- great place -- you just have to tell them ko-mugi allergy the same as Ken and Honpo san will take care of you.

AKita Chanko ryori in Koishikawa too. They usually keep some wheat free soy sauce that I gave them on hand but will make salt based than than soy sauce based sauces.

Have not been in Manilla since the revolution.. good time to get a lot of fruit there

We used to go to the hobbit house near makati

Tokyo: If you can communicate or have someone to help you communicate, you might try to find a shabu shabu restauraunt that can use just konbu and water for their broth and bring your own shoyu. Order plain meats and veg and if others will want noodles or other gluten containing ingredients, then order a sepatate pot for them.
