I'd go with an almond butter. Just make sure it wasn't produced in a facility with peanuts. Even local grocery stores should carry some of these. I have seen loads of brands and most were not contaminated with peanuts but I'd call them to confirm.

Good luck!

P.S. I did a quick Google search and found http://www.barneybutter.com/index.html which is made in a dedicated almond factory. Maybe you can find it locally!

I second almost butter, though cashew butter is an option as well.

I liked pea butter. Daughter did not. She will eat sunflower seed butter. I don't much like it. She did like almond butter but is now allergic. Some people say soynut butter is good, but we avoid soy. One mix that we both like is cashew/macadamia. Neither of us like straight cashew butter. Just too rich tasting.

I *love* SunButter!! It's made from sunflower seeds and is gluten-free and nut-free. It tastes looks and spreads almost like peanut butter... in fact, if you were to serve it to friends and say, "It's a gourmet peanut butter" they'd be delighted with it :)

I would be very, very careful about using other nuts, because the possibility for cross-contamination with peanuts is quite high.
