Hello,

My hubby & I are going home (Toronto & Guelph) for the week of New Year's. We'll be meeting up with friends for dinners and/or lunches and/or over coffee. I'm wondering if there are places in Guelph that anyone can recommend for gluten-free dining? I grew up there but haven't gone to a restaurant there since my dx. I know Moxie's has a gluten-free menu, but I am pretty tired of the same few choices and would like to try something new if possible.

Here they say that Zesty's has gluten-free options Open Original Shared Link - has anyone tried eating there?

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks!

Hi Jillian. I know this is a little late for you this time but keep it in mind for any future visits to Guelph. We have a food store in Guelph and cater to celiacs and some special dietary needs. (egg and dairy free and lower sodium)

I don't think I am allowed to post my web site here but you can check it out through my PM info. We don't serve hot food at our location but we have food and fresh G F bread/baking etc that we do in our own dedicated location that is ready to take with you.

Try a multivitamin maybe it will cover what you are deficient in.

Agreed, and I can't remember exactly and haven't got time to check, but I think my blood didn't normalise for eight years! For years I read this forum thinking why can't I get my numbers down - everyone else manages to.   But my gastroenterologist didn't seem to worry about it, which makes me think he either thought I wasn't complying to the diet, or he'd seen similar cases.

Yes, being off gluten for 3 months would likely yield negative results. To get accurate testing redone you would need to restart gluten consumption for several weeks (the "gluten challenge") to the tune of at least 10g of gluten daily (about the amount found in 4-6 slices of wheat bread).

That is one of the tests covered in the article I linked you above.

Antibodies to Deamidated gliadin peptides.  It is another celiac antibody test. The main test is the one you had, TTG,  But a full panel will also include DGP IgA and IgG.  I was positive on all of them!
