Rice Polish

I am always looking for new flour blends that do NOT contain potato starch. I came across a three rice flour blend which, in addition to brown and white rice flours, calls for "rice polish". This is the definition I found online for rice polishings (nothing for rice polish) :

Function: noun plural

: the inner bran layer of rice rubbed off in milling and used as a source of thiamin, riboflavin, and niacin called also tikitiki.

Well, I never heard of tikitiki either, but I have to presume they are referring to rice bran? I had initially expected to find glutinous rice, but no.... So rice polish, rice polishings, the same thing? i.e., rice bran?? It could make a heckuva difference to any recipe if that's not what it is  This was supposed to be an all-purpose blend.

Well, I've read that rice polish is what is removed from rice when making white rice. It's the outermost layer. The part that makes rice brown. Basically, the outer layer is polished off, exposing the white, innermost portion of the grain. So polishings sounds like the same thing to me.

That's all that I could figure, not that I've ever seen any yet. Good source of fibre and nutrition :D

What a mine of information you are, RiceGuy. Thanks for that. It also answered the question for me of what pollard is, which is what we used to feed our chooks chickens when I was a kid, although I believe that was wheat pollard. Maybe I will abandon that flour blend since it seems very unlikely I will ever find any rice polish here, no rice being grown here.

I had some but never knew what to do with it so threw it out after it got really old. Can't remember where I bought it but maybe online.

Can you tell me what it looked like, its texture? What you would replace it with?
