Hi Everyone,

I was just hoping that some of you might either have, or know were get, good information on nutrient deficiency.

I think it may be what is stopping my progress with healing from Celiac Disease. I am desperate for some help.

One thing you can do to get some info is go on to a site that sells used text books, do a search for books on nutrition, write down the titles and authors and then go to someplace like Ebay or Amazon and look and see if they have one of them. I would not purchase from the textbook site as they will be very pricey there. If you have a college close by check their bookstores also. Texts will give you info on not only deficiency but also what foods are best for what nutrients.

I know how you feel. The first couple of months after I found out I had celiac I felt wonderful following the diet. Now 6 months in I'm exhausted. I'm taking several different vitamins as well as iron but I'm just dragging. I'm not hungry all the time anymore but I don't seem to be getting any nutritional benefits from the food I eat. I eat very few specialty gluten-free foods, only Chex and a Diamond brand gluten-free cracker, sticking mainly to fruits, veg, and meat. When my brother found out he had celiac, his doctor told him to avoid milk and milk products for 2 months to help his intestines heal and he did but still doesn't feel 100% either so I'm not sure if it's the healing that is not taking place, the diet that may be lacking certain nutrients, or perhaps other allergies that we aren't aware of yet. Good luck with you healing.

I walk fast for fitness, 4 to 6 km per day. I am also 74 years old. Apart from the Celiac challenge, my lifestyle is healthy. I had a sciatiac nerve pinching under my one foot, with inflamation in my whole shin. It was almost cured, when the other shin started paining and burning. I do stretches, use a natural cooling gel and rest my feet. Can Celiac cause muscle pains/inflamation, or is it just over-excercising?

I recently started shopping at a nearby Trader Joe's store. I was surprised at the number and variety of (healthy) gluten-free options sold there. I must admit their low prices are also quite tempting. However, I am curious as to the labeling on all their packages. While none of their products are certified as gluten-free, many are identified as 'GLUTEN FREE' on the packaging. Are these items safe for celiacs? Has anyone tried Trader Joe's products and have there been any adverse reactions?

HI, my doctor suggested one week of consuming gluten before blood tests.  I have been gluten free for 3 years.  Has anyone been through this and will I get exact results after one week of consuming gluten?  I don't even know if I can do this, if I get sick I am not sure if I can continue, any suggestions??  Thanks in advance.

PPI's can be a wonderful healing agent when used as prescribed on the label which I believe recommends use of up to 8 weeks. But they are like antibiotics in that they are overprescribed and undermonitored. Docs generally prescribe them and then keep prescribing them because they take care of immediate symptoms so well. Physicians are more into treating symptoms than uncovering causes.
