Eating Patterns Have Changed Since Diagnosis

Recommended Posts

Has anyone else found that they're eating patterns have changed enormously since being diagnosed with celiac?

I used to never be able to eat breakfast, ate a late lunch, snacked a lot, and my main meal was late afternoon/evening.

Now I seem to NEED a 400 calorie breakfast, a 500 calorie lunch and dinner matters only if I've been active. It's so different.

I'm still learning what I need so sometimes I eat when I don't need to or I undereat and don't realize that's what I've done. But basically it's easier than the way I ate before -- it's more predictable and healthier. I just need more time to make it comfortable...I'd appreciate any tips!

So funny, I have the same exact eating pattern as you. I'm soooo hungry in the mornings now. I make a coconut milk smoothie with two heaping scoops of Raw brown rice protein, and then add add avocado, pysillium (sp?)husks and cocoa powder. It's my favorite meal of the day. By the time work ends, I usually don't have much of an appetite.

I once read that it's a signal of a toxic/overwhelemed body if you are not hungry in the morning. If this is true, then maybe it says we're on the right path!

2010- Gluten, Soy, Corn, Dairy, Eggs, Nut free. Sugar, non-gluten grains lite(Yes, still plenty to eat!)

2010-Doctor diagnosed me as Celiac then took diagnoses back, then said avoid gluten for life

that's so neat! and encouraging... how did you come up with that smoothie concoction? I'm actually trying to figure out how to get enough calories of the right kind in the morning. I'm certain once I do that it will even me out (particularly the snacking) for the rest of the day.

I've heard that it's a sign of health too and I'm hoping it's true :)

I have no clue wth you yaks are talkin about.

I wake up in the morning sick as a dog and dont want to eat anything.

I have found ONE thing I can eat without gettin sick... basil fried rice.

have had it every day for the past 7 weeks. any time I have tried somethign new that was suposed to be gluten-free>. i got sick.

problem now is the rice has made me constipated and I am sick as a dog from that.

perhaps I will get more hungry like you guys when I adapt better to this illness, but so far I dun think Ima make it fellas.

black yak out!!

Gosh, years of trying different things, I guess. I also wanted something I could eat on the way to work and this is perfect. I get enough calories and it's so yummy that it's the meal I look forward to the most now, where before, breakfast was a chore and a half! I hope you like avocados as much as I do...they will become your best friend when trying to ensure you eat plenty of calories. Ping me if you want my recipe. :)
