Effects Of Chlorine With Dh

Recommended Posts

I went swimming in a chlorinated pool for the first time in many years, and experienced a pretty severe outbreak of DH that began the following day. Has anyone else had this experience? Has anyone come across any information that addresses the effects of chlorine on DH?

Yes, my son would get sores that would not heal after swimming. Initially looked like mosquito bites then turned into open painful sores that took a long time to heal and scarred. Until we went gluten-free he had these sores every summer he swam. Never figured it out. It never came back once gluten-free. We believe it was DH and the chlorine made it worse. Probably went swimming right after I gave him pizza. Jeez why does it take so long to figure these things out? No Dr. ever made the connection to gluten or chlorine and DH (but neither did I) All gone, but I recall reading that the antibodies to gluten remain in your skin for months and can easily be reactivated by gluten or iodine...and apparently from chlorine too.

Healing is a matter of time, but it is sometimes also a matter of opportunity.
