My fat seems way out of percent wise to protein percent? Is there some ratio we should follow. Still trying to learn all this. Thanks.

Do you mean your fat consumption? I'm not sure I understand your post.

The most oft quoted ratio is ~30% fat ~30% protein ~40% carbs.

I go with 40% protein 35% fat 25% carbs.

How much protein do you usually eat? The percent of calories from protein doesn't matter, it's the absolute amount of protein that's important. The RDA for protein is 0.8 grams per kilogram of body weight. So, for example, someone who weights 60 kg (132 lbs) would need to eat at least 48 grams of protein.

Just remember that your body doesn't care about exact ratios of fat/carb/protein, it only cares about the amounts of each. Don't worry about it too much!

I go with the same ratio. 40% protein 35% fat, 25% carbs. I pretty much stick to the Paleo diet, or the Primal Blueprint. Very easy to go gluten free with just eating Meats, veggies and fruit! Low carb and loving it! I feel so much better in all areas. I sometimes can't believe how many little things have improved by going completely grain free. I would have to say almost everything. However, I am just coming off a pretty serious sinus infection. Pretty common for me. Kinda bummed, but only been doing this for 9 months, so after being sick most of my 40 years, I know I am not going to be bullet proof in 9 months. But I feel so much better with more fat & protein. The low fat SAD about killed me!!

I have to disagree that the body doesn't care about ratio of fat/protein/carbs. From a perspective of just getting enough nutrients in a day, that may or may not be true (baring the extremes, of course), but from a dynamic perspective, the balance of fat/protein/carbs says a world about blood sugar levels, and for many of us, it matters very much that we get enough fat/protein, and not too many carbs (but not too few).

Exactly what you need varies for a lot of people.

I do something around 25-30%fat, 25-30%protein, 40-50%carbs (non-refined).

      Sounds like you are in the UK. With blood numbers that high, I thought docs in UK would give an official diagnosis without the biopsy. You should ask about that, so you can get support faster.  I'd try to find and print out anything that supports that in your country, get another appointment and take all of it with you. Even in the US now, some docs are doing this, my 19 year old step granddaughter got an official diagnosis here in US with just blood results a few months ago.

      Is soy sauce in Korea also made from wheat like it usually is in US? I'd be concerned that even if asking about gluten, they would not be aware of or think of some like that.

      That's a good idea. It can at least establish the potential for developing celiac disease and can help people decided between a celiac diagnosis and NCGS (Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity). And it doesn't require a gluten challenge and can be had without a doctor's prescription.

      I have my endoscopy on Thursday, has anyone had the procedure done with a cough? I don't have a continuous cough, but every now and then throughout the day I have sort of coughing episodes. They are a lot better than they were but I called endoscopy and they said to speak to my gp and my gp got back to me and said I need to ask endoscopy if its ok if I have it done still.  Help!

      Thank you so much, everyone. For the moment my doctor just has me taking iron but hopefully we can reconnect soon. I'm going to look into genetic testing, too. Great advice all around and I appreciate it--and you can bet I'm going off the PPIs!
