naw! this is me, sweets, come on!  :lol: laughter is healing. If I had not kept laughing, I'd be pushing up daisies right now..

You are on the bus when you suddenly realize that meal you thought was gluten-free, really wasn’t… and you need to fart.

The music is really loud, so you decide to be clever and time your farts with the beat.  After a couple of songs, you start to feel better as you approach your stop.

As you are leaving the bus, people are really staring you down.  That’s when you remember:

…..you’ve been listening to your ipod.

Yep, that would kill me alright ;)

 

Does sound nice and easy for folks that can tolerate processed mixes.

 

Off to look for another new flavor for the crock....

Seen some of her recipes and will take a peek again -- the link went to crock pot key lime pie -- yum!

 

I had already gone "loosely" with this recipe:

used a lean pork roast -- ribs or roast with a bit more fat would probably taste better -- we shall see.

 

Instead of garlic powder and chinese five spice I used fresh garlic and fresh ginger -- fingers crossed, but do love when dinner is done before I've even finished the morning coffee :)

The bus joke even got a chuckle out of my husband, which doesn't happen often. Usually he just tells me that sure, whatever I find hilarious was someone amusing. <_<

 

I think we're having burgers tonight. It's something not messy with not a lot of dishes. Since we're moving the kitchen tomorrow I don't want to make any thing that will have leftovers or a bunch of dishes. All I have left is to do the bottom cupboards today and I'm done. Yay!

*giggles* That list of celiac stuff is too funny!

 

Our grocery bill is kind of high, but that's not all due to gluten free, but also because we buy a lot of organic.

 

I try to not pay full price for most of our gluten free pre-packaged stuff. The kids' pretzels that they're eating this morning were 65 cents a bag and the loaf of bread that I'm toasting for breakfast toast cost 49 cents. The Amish salvage grocery stores that we shop at always have a varying inventory, so its kind of luck of the draw, but I've found lots of great stuff for gluten-free treats there.

The donuts were made using the recipe from this website: http://freeeatsfood.com/2012/02/06/chocolate-doughnuts-with-butterscotch-glaze-and-salted-almonds/

The glaze was a honey/powdered sugar glaze and then I added a tbsp of cocoa powder to get the chocolate glaze.  The flour I used in the recipe was a new flour I have never used before.. it was given to me by my best friend after she went to Bend, OR. Apparently her friend's roommate started a gluten-free flour company called AKulinary Innovations. It worked really well. It had xanthan gum already in it so I was kinda worried. But it worked out!

 

 

With all the excitement this weekend I totally forgot to thank you!!!!

 

I used the same recipe....doubled for hungry teens...only variance was buttermilk instead of milk.  I made the butterscotch icing in the link ked recipe as well...but instead of letting it cool/thicken I completely dipped the donuts and let them set up on waxed paper....

 

Oh my goodness....they were awesome...the icing tastes more like carmel to us which was just fine....I called them the turtle donuts...even stuck feet and a head in one...which of course gave me an idea for the next special day cake.

Dinner tonight is going to be boneless ribeye with a baked potato and broccoli. I'm really looking forward to it. I haven't ate red meat in well -- too long! :huh:

 

and a wonderful way to start -- my favorite steak :)

 

dinner here has changed directions - slightly - that crock recipe I found smells an awful lot like sweet and sour without the sweet -- so I'm going to thicken the sauce and and some sugar, pineapple chunks and veggie to be served over rice.. the younger men have been circling the crock to find out what is cooking :D

My "Paula Deen Dinner" as I called it last night turned out great.  Decided what the heck and made everything full fat and a ton of gravy on it all.  Well I oven baked the breaded chicken because frying is a pain, but it was one of the best meals I have eaten in a long time.  I was missing gluten filled chicken fried chicken.

 

 

Tonight will be sauteed pork chops and maybe a little gravy to go with, to put on the leftover mashed potatoes on the side.  Will throw a veggie on the side, too.  I will drown myself in a lesser fat gravy this time, and this week I will be finally going back to walking regularly after my surgery.  To burn off those gravy calories.  :)

Hip Hooray for Laura walking....your dinner sounds yummy and comforting.

 

The experiment in the crock today was really good -- problem is re-tracing my steps -- will try tomorrow morning because by the time I served I may have had a bit of wine and don't feel like documenting right now -- although glad the men liked it :)

 

Ended up with kinda a sweet and sour meets pulled pork with pineapple and zucchini chunks all served over linguine.

I do that all the time!  I will pull out a recipe and change something and not write it down.  I have gotten a little better, but still hang myself up sometimes, haha!

Grats on getting back to walking! And I love love love gravy! I introduced my husband to real gravy instead of that crap in a jar and he fell ever so much more in love with me. :lol:

 

I do the recipe changing thing too. I always get a little cranky when I don't remember what I did to make it awesome. <_<

 

Tonight's dinner plans changed. I had my husband bring home pepperoni and I threw my frozen pizza in the oven. I spent the afternoon subbing at the college, then running errands for stupid insurance crap for my PT network exception, then the whole evening/night cleaning my kitchen. But, it is now clean and ready for moving in. Woohoo!!! I feel like I've been hit by a truck and am still a little bouncy in my chair with excitement.

 

Tomorrow night I have to head over to the next city for a vendor meeting for the farmers market. Apparently it's semi-manditory and I just got the email tonight at around 10. Not thrilled, I'm supposed to be organizing my kitchen and I'll have been moving all day. So they're getting me in moving clothes and smelly and they can just kiss my butt if they don't like it. :ph34r:

92 here B) and Karen's Favorite Gadget (forever dubbed henceforth as the  " KFG") is making quinoa and black bean stuffed peppers.

cuz > this girl < ain't cooking. I had some dental work this morning (always a freakin delight) and I am headed out to close out on the conversion mortgage..and hopefully, that's the end of the legal crap for now. (she said with eternal optimism). Stay cool skidoodle.

 

P.S. Addy, got your pic and all I  can say is WTF were those people doing in that kitchen? . :ph34r: you need a hazmat suit battling that thing, sweets.

Using dishwashers to get the stickers off of new dishes? Using dishwashers as garbage disposals? Using dishwashers as storage for broken glass dishes? These are some of my best guesses but at any rate that sucker is clean and I used it to not do my own dishes last night/this morning at like 1. HAH! I win!

 

I should have planned ahead for a crock pot meal for tonight, but I didn't. So it'll probably be last night's burgers we didn't have. They're quick and easy and we can just eat them when we get home from our vendor meeting.

 

Good luck with the staying cool and the legal crap! I'm off to pack my crap into boxes so my husband just has to wake up, get dressed and start carrying.
