Day 12- Still Waking Up With D

Hey experts- I'm on day 12 of no gluten and no dairy. I'm feeling a little better mood & energy wise, but I'm still waking up in the morning with either diarrhea of soft stools (light colored). Any tips? Does it take longer than 12 days to start to resolve? The diarrhea during the day is mostly gone, but the mornings are the same. I'm eating mostly whole, gentle foods.

Unfortunately, it takes a while for everything to start working the way nature intended. Hange in there, and maybe add a good gluten free probiotic to your regimen.

Did you switch to whole foods? Or are you eating processed substitutes?

Mostly whole foods: nuts, fruits, veggies, rice, etc. A few substitutes. I did add a probiotic last week too. I'm getting a lot of fiber, obviously, so could that be making the stool soft?

More fiber than you are used to eating will change your bowel movements. If you feel like your moving towards more formed stool, and away from straight diarrhea, then it would seem like you're moving in the right direction. If you still think everything is random, you might want to consider other food issues, but do give yourself a couple weeks to let your body adjust.

Everything is right what others sad, but I will give three other option. They are from my experience.

1. I'm fructose intolerant. My body can't digest some fruits, syrups, juices, or jelly, jam. Fructose intolerance can cause diarrhea, and will cause bloathing, gas, cramps. If you started to eat more friuts, you might be intolerant to some (grapes, apples, pears,...).

2. You can have other intolerances or allergies(eggs, soy, corn,...).

3. I also had SIBO- small intestinal bacterial overgrowth. I was tested for candida and helico-bakteria which was negative. My doctor tested me for SIBO, and I was positive. After two antibiotics everything is perfect now.

All this things can cause diarrhea. If you wouldn't get better after few weeks, try to look for the cause in other places. Sooner you find what is your trigger, sooner you will get better.

Hi Scott, yes I have had symptoms for years and this is the second GI I have seen and he could not believe I have never been tested. He called later today and I am scheduled for an endoscopy. Is there a way to tell how severe my potential celiac is from the results above? What are the chances I will have the biopsy and come back negative and we have to keep searching for a cause?

I agree christina, there is definitely many contributing factors! I have the pain today, my pelvis, hips and thighs ache! No idea why. But i have been sitting at work for 3 days so im thinking its my back. This disease is very mysterious (and frustrating) but not always to blame for every pain.

"her stool study showed she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that." The wording of this part of the sentence does not make any sense at all. I don't mean to insult you, but is English your first language? This part of the sentence sounds like it was generated by translation software.

What kind of stool test was done? Can you be more specific?
    • mishyj
Perhaps I should also have said that in addition to showing a very high response to gluten, her stool study showed that she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that.
