Gluten Free Ten Days And Then Tried Oats?

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

ACK my stomach is like someone is stabbing me repeatedly, and I'd been feeling so much better. My skin cleared up, I don't get sleepy all the time, I don't have the same sorts of stomach pain or blood. But I tried this gluten free oatmeal I got at the store. And it's so painful. Could it possibly be from the oats? Or could it be from food poisoning the night before or something. I'm not sure what to think!

About 10% of Celiacs react to gluten-free oats like they do to wheat. That is why the advice from the Celiac Centers is to not eat oats until fully healed. I have seen it recommended a year or more.

Food poisoning is possible but stay off the oats for awhile.

Just say no to oats. At least for a while. Some of us have problems with the gluten-free oats. You need to be gluten-free for a long time before trying them (at least a year), then limit your amount AND check back with a doctor in 3-6 months.

Not worth the risk for me. Give it a year, then you can decide if it's worth trying again.
