Not The Basic Symptoms

Hi, my name is Erica. I have noticed that everytime I go away from home, I stay away from gluten, or at least I think I do, but the next day at home I start to have symptoms. And they last usually for 3-4 days. Can just the idea of being away from home be a trigger of symptoms? I read somewhere that its not just gluten consumption that can trigger issues but other factors. Is this one of them.

And when you do have symptoms, is there anything you can do to alleviate them?

Stress, anxiety and a range of other feelings and emotions can arise when going away. Some of these factors are thought to be an activation mechanism for the celiac gene. Some of the naturally gluten free foods you may be consuming could have 'trace residues' of gluten present.

I also believe that 'gluten reactions' could be stronger when there is a greater level of stress present. This may be the difference between more symptoms and more damage.

I try and relax as much as possible when things are out of routine. That way, in the case of glutenning, I find I get less unwell. Hope this helps. :)
