What Time Of Day To Try The Test Again?

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

So should I just go for it and try the test again tomorrow in the morning or wait until after school. Please give me your advice. The buzzy was a cute idea, but I'm not going to get one by tomorrow. How about a bag of ice. I could bring some in a cooler and we could ice it. I used ice when we did IVF shots and the frozen bag of peas was a life saver. So maybe that is a good idea. Not sure how it works with the veins.Do you think they could find her vein better in the morning since it is over 100 her in the afternoon. They told us to bring her back at 10:00 for 3 people to be there. A good idea. Just don't know. Thanks so much.

The ice would definately numb the area, but it also can make it hard to find a vein. I notice a lot that the nurses will wrap peoples arms in warm blankets to warm them up to help them find a vein better. Personally I would go after school then she wouldn't have to go to school after all upset. However going in the morning could have its benefit also so she isn't thinking about it all day at school. Good luck!

We finally got 6 yr old tested. They had me wait outside of room. That did the trick. There was some screaming, but they did get it, took 3 of them. Oh my.

Good!

Thibk of the screaming this way -

I used to work at a children's hospital. Healthy kids yell, or cry or at least say "ouch!" Its very sad to see the kids that don't even blink when they are getting more blood drawn (second time today...100th time in 2 years).

I find a lot of the time even for x-ray exams that some children do better when the parent isn't there. It takes out that element and usually they will do better. Glad you were sucessful.

This is good to know....I think I will have Grandpa take my son when he gets his blood drawn. He seems to act "braver" when Papa is around and mommy isn't....

Glad you were finally sucessful! Keep us posted on the results!

Funny thing is about that. When my oldest son was little he had chronic constipation and was on everything under the sun for it. Well he was potty trained by 2 1/2 years old but only half the way. We were scared to put any pressure on him to train the rest of the way because we didn't want the constipation issue to rear it's ugly head. So by the time he was 3 he was still using a pull up for bms. Interesting though he did have control over it because he would wear underwear all day even at day care and would have his "routine" in the evening. Well, my parents were down for a visit and grandpa casually said to him that if he could pee in the toilet then he could do the other. He never put another pull up on again to use the bathroom...
