Nasonex And Oxycontin?

Hi all,

I am trying to figure out he sources of hidden gluten in my life and am now thinking my Rxs might contain some. I can't get in touch with the manufacturers, guess I'll just keep trying, but in the meantime, if any of you know...

I take Nasonex (always namebrand, Schering, generic not available yet), and oxycontin (both generic--Malin or Endo-- and name brand--Purdue-- if the pharmacist is out of generic). For the oxy, both 5mg instant release formulation and 20mg controlled release.

Thanks

Judi

One good thing to try, for your medications and prescriptions is talk to your pharmacist. Your pharmacist is your best friend, they know way more about all those medications, even the over the counter kind, than any doctor. They can usually get down to the companies alot easier than you can over the phone.

I've been on so many medications this last few months, that all the pharmaciscts at theSafeway by my house know me by site, and automatiically check my prescriptions for gluten each time I drop them off. They are great.

Hi Grantschoep-

Yeah, I think I'm going to have to "inconvenience" my pharmacist. Hopefully I'll catch her in a good mood! They are so busy at this location... I could drive to another pharmacy I have used, but why should I have to drive another 20 miles just to be assured courteous treatment?

Thanks for the suggestion/encouragement. I have to start applying this across the board. I mean, asking people to do the "extra" for me... when I buy deli, I don't ask that they change gloves and wipe down the slicer, but I accept that I have to from now on (or go without). Perhaps I'll be pleasantly suprised when I explain why I have to ask for extra effort on their parts.

Here's a start for anyone with similar questions. This link takes you to a compilation of gluten-free medications with contact information. Nasonex is gluten-free and namebrand, Purdue Pharma, Oxycontin is gluten-free but I still don't know about the generics.

Something has kept me up all night. I thought I had just finished with several nights of insomnia...had two OK nights and now here it is 4 am.

I have my endoscopy on Thursday, has anyone had the procedure done with a cough? I don't have a continuous cough, but every now and then throughout the day I have sort of coughing episodes. They are a lot better than they were but I called endoscopy and they said to speak to my gp and my gp got back to me and said I need to ask endoscopy if its ok if I have it done still.  Help!

Thank you so much, everyone. For the moment my doctor just has me taking iron but hopefully we can reconnect soon. I'm going to look into genetic testing, too. Great advice all around and I appreciate it--and you can bet I'm going off the PPIs!

I walk fast for fitness, 4 to 6 km per day. I am also 74 years old. Apart from the Celiac challenge, my lifestyle is healthy. I had a sciatiac nerve pinching under my one foot, with inflamation in my whole shin. It was almost cured, when the other shin started paining and burning. I do stretches, use a natural cooling gel and rest my feet. Can Celiac cause muscle pains/inflamation, or is it just over-excercising?

I recently started shopping at a nearby Trader Joe's store. I was surprised at the number and variety of (healthy) gluten-free options sold there. I must admit their low prices are also quite tempting. However, I am curious as to the labeling on all their packages. While none of their products are certified as gluten-free, many are identified as 'GLUTEN FREE' on the packaging. Are these items safe for celiacs? Has anyone tried Trader Joe's products and have there been any adverse reactions?

HI, my doctor suggested one week of consuming gluten before blood tests.  I have been gluten free for 3 years.  Has anyone been through this and will I get exact results after one week of consuming gluten?  I don't even know if I can do this, if I get sick I am not sure if I can continue, any suggestions??  Thanks in advance.
