Baking With Flaxseed

Recommended Posts

Flaxseed in seed form or meal ? Meal is definitley used as a supplement (good source fiber etc..) but is very gelatinous and although you can certainly experiment I don't think you'll get anything but a doughy/thick base from it. Usually I supplement the meal from 1/8 of a mix of other flours .

You most certainly can use flax meal as the only "flour". However you can't substitute it in regular recipes. You need to use recipes specially designed for it. There are lots out there for pizza crusts, muffins, bread etc. Google low-carb flax meal and whatever it is that you are looking for, muffins for example. Much easier than the usual gluten-free baking and much better for the blood sugar. I liked the golden flax.
