New Guy + Sesame Seeds

Hi All,

So looks like I have celiac disease, just got the anti-body test results recently. Still have the biopsy to go, but I 'feel' that celiac disease is whats wrong with me. Anyways, just wanted to say hi. In some ways I releived to have found something to point to, in some ways I'm just mad that it took 25 yrs of my life to figure out ...

I also had a quick question ... has any one heard of sesame seeds helping with celiac disease? I've been eating some mediterranean food recently, and have felt much better ... I think I've id'd tahini sauce (made from sesame seeds) as the saviour ... I've always felt some issues with a wierd, hard to define deficiency with my thinking ability (I have had periods of poor balance etc), and eating the mediterranean food has helped out ... the sesame seeds are rich in B vitamins, which I believe help the nerves/brain ... I dont know, frankly I dont have much faith in doctors helping me out .... would appreciate any input ...

Hello Ozz, welcome to the forum.

I'm not sure if sesame seeds do all that ... I tend to eat a lot of them as well. I do know that they are gluten free and tasty, which are both a good thing :P

The problem with the thinking ability is common amoung Celiacs whom for one reason or another get into gluten. Perhaps the times when you are thinking clearly and feeling better, are the days when you just happen to be completely gluten free. Also, you are right about the B vitamins helping with many problems, and if you have been on gluten, then you likely haven't been absorbing enough of them. The sesame would certainly help with that.

Feel free to ask any questions in this forum, someone can usually come up with an answer. And no question is too embarrassing, or personal.

I agree christina, there is definitely many contributing factors! I have the pain today, my pelvis, hips and thighs ache! No idea why. But i have been sitting at work for 3 days so im thinking its my back. This disease is very mysterious (and frustrating) but not always to blame for every pain.

"her stool study showed she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that." The wording of this part of the sentence does not make any sense at all. I don't mean to insult you, but is English your first language? This part of the sentence sounds like it was generated by translation software.

What kind of stool test was done? Can you be more specific?

Perhaps I should also have said that in addition to showing a very high response to gluten, her stool study showed that she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that.

My daughter has celiac disease and has had for a long time. She fell loses strictly gluten-free diet and recently got rid of all cutting boards in any gluten in her house at all. She just had a stool test and it came back showing of gigantic response to gluten in her diet. What could be going on since she doesn't eat any gluten and is very careful about any kind of hidden glue? Help!
