Trans-Dermal Iron Supplements?

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

So..I have yet to get my iron checked....I hear iron pills tend to upset peoples stomachs....and I have a fear of throwing up. I have recently discovered you can get vitamins as trans-dermal cream. Does anyone know if there is iron supplement cream? *hopeful* Otherwise...eek! I dunno what to do =\

Cook in dedicated gluten free cast iron.

Develop a fondness for putting blackstrap molasses in or on a lot of things.

Easy iron sources.

Sorry, no transdermal iron--and don't try pulverizing the tablets and taking them sublingually. I tried that, and my teeth turned black! It took years for the teeth to turn gray and eventually turn a dingy cream color.

If you seriously cannot take oral iron, you can request intravenous iron infusions. Many of us who are iron deficient and can't absorb iron receive iron in that way.

Do any of you find that cast iron skillets help a lot? I think i saw something online about chewable vitamins made for this sort of thing?

I have always had a hard time taking supplaments - set off my acid stomach.

Then I had to...

Iron was a tough one. Honestly. I take Solgar gentle iron and even that made me queasy for a few weeks - then it passed. I never vomited....just felt gross.

So you can probably get through it. The nausea is usually temporary.

I honestly don't handle nausea well....I'll be a wreck as I have a severe fear of throwing up etc

Just wanted to update as I was searching and hate forums that are old and not updated...

There are many transdermal iron supplements. You just have to google it. I was looking to buy online and saw this post and felt compelled to refute the above incorrect info regarding its availability.

What is the update?  There have been transdermal iron available for years.  The problem is that it is unproven to work.   It sounds like a company is currently in the process of getting their transdermal iron patch tested and approved by the FDA.  Until then, traditional means of supplementing iron should be followed, in my personal non-medical opinion.

As far as being available online?  I have some potential ocean beachfront property for sale in Arizona.  ?
