I've read quite a bit on glutamine's healing ability on intestines. The naturopath diagnosed me with leaky gut, but why would he be hesitant to prescribe glutamine? He said he just doesn't.

Yes, glutamine can be very helpful for healing the gut. However, it has been implicated in exacerbating cancer or causing it to recur in a few studies. I used to take glutamine faithfully because it made my digestive system work optimally; however, since I suffer from recurrent cancer (and currently am suffering from metastatic cancer), I stopped using it. I don't know if this is why your naturopath is hesitant to prescribe it, but it's a possibility.
