  1. Wow! I'm going through the exact same thing. I've been gluten-free for 2 months and am having a biopsy next Tuesday. I mentioned that it will probably be negative because of the diet and the GI doc wasn't concerned at all. He says he thinks it'll show other food intolerances. I haven't heard that before, have you? Because the gluten-free diet didn't help, he thinks I may be intolerant of many foods. I have avoided alcohol, dairy and soy also. My blood test was positive for celiac. What do you think? warpspeed
  2. okay, i've been gluten-free for 8 weeks and my GI doc wants to do endoscopy. He says it will indicate other reasons for my problems if it isn't celiac disease. My blood test was positive for celiac. I really don't get it. What else will the biopsy possibly show? He says intolerance for other foods besides gluten. Does this ring true? Thanks, warpspeed p.s. gluten-free diet didn't help
  3. Hello! I have a question (or 2). I had a blood test that was positive for celiac but haven't gotten any better after being on gluten free diet for 8 weeks. I've also been avoiding alcohol, soy and dairy. It's been a very basic diet. Now my GI doc wants to do a biopsy (endoscopy) to be sure it's celiac disease. The problem is - if it's negative, is that meaningful? If I'm not eating gluten, won't it be negative? If it is negative, he's probably going to give me steroids. What should I do?? Thanks for your help. warpspeed
  4. Somebody must know this! Don't you have to be eating regular food (not gluten-free) in order for a biopsy to be meaningful? My GI didn't say a thing about it! I just don't want to waste time or money. Warpspeed
  5. Hi! I'm new here too. Here's what's happening. I was diagosed with celiac disease by a blood test and went on gluten-free diet starting in Jan. NO EFFECT! I don't eat soy, dairy, alcohol, peanuts or basically anything but chick, fish, beef and veggies. Rice too. I have diarrhea everytime I eat and usually get up 3 or 4 times in the night. Not really cramping though. All food goes right through me like water. I went back to GI doc and he's doing biopsy next week. If that's negative, does that mean I don't have celiac disease? HELP!
  6. Hi All. This is my first time on message board. My mother tested positive (she's 75) for celiac disease with a blood test. She's been on gluten-free diet for 2 months with no improvement. What do you think she should do? She's allergic to soy and lactose intolerant also. Thanks for being there.
  7. I've never been on a message board at all and am writing this to be sure this is how you post something.
