  3. hello there I'm thirteen years old and have had a gluten intolerance for a little over a year now. I can't really say its the funnest thing, but you learn to live with it. Most people think its going to be terrible and they're not going to be able to eat "normal" foods, but really there are so many amazing subsites from breads to pizzas. It really has changed my life, for the better. So I'm just sending some encouragment. The first month or so isn't the easiest, but trust me, you'll adapt. so just keep going and it will get a lot easier. trust me. Good Luck, Holly gluten-free since May 7, 2004.
  4. Gluten-Free + School = No Fun I'm Holly [Age 13] and I don't really like being gluten-free at school. I get frustrated when they see other people eating gluten. I'm not saying I would cheat. But every single day I think, 'What if I just took one little bite of that pizza' or 'Maybe just a taste of that breaded chicken'. But I know I can't and I know the result. Not good. But you know- there are some people who try to hide their food so it doesn't make me feel bad; some who don't care what I think; some who don't know I have Celiac; and some who rub it in your face. None of the above are good. Sometimes I wish I never I had Celiac. One of the science teachers in my school does have Celiac. I've talked to him but its not really any help because he says he cheats all the time. And thats obviously not good. He is the only other person I have talked to face to face who has it and he said he was diagnosed when he was about 40. No help. In my opinion- I hate being gluten-free around other people. (Except my family) And I am getting pretty tired of answering "Celiac Disease? Whats that?" or "Eww you have a disease. Get away"
  5. Thats good to know- I used to go to McDolands like all the time. -Holly Gluten-free since May 4, 2004 =)

  7. Cravings

  8. If they came up with a pill that enables you to eat gluten, I would take it from time to time because my side-effects are not as bad as many other people's. For example, once a week I might sneek a little cracker or something in and my body won't react because it was such a small amount. I consider myself very lucky! _-Holly-_
  9. Hello everyone, I'm 13 and pretty new on the gluten-free diet. Just wondering, I know you can't have dextrin, but what about dextrose? Anyways, if anyone could get back to me on that, it would be very helpful. I've been on the diet for a couple of weeks now, and I get unbelievable wheat cravings-especially when I'm around my friends and they're eating pizza or a sandwich or something along those lines. I haven't brought myself to cheat on purpose yet, but I have had some awful results after cross-contamination. Does anybody else ever get cravings?? Please Reply If You Can! Thanks, Holly Hate To Be gluten-free

  12. Hey, I was diagnosed w/ Celiac and I've been all pumped to go to one of my BEST friend's B-day party. I told her about my allergy to gluten and that it was in alot of stuff. She went through a checklist with me to see what she what she was having for snacks (Ect.) As it turned out, I couldn't have most of the things on her list..Including the cake!! And as you know..you can't go a party without munchies! What should I do about it? Thanks, Holly gluten-free since 5-7-04..

  14. Hello Everyone, My name is Holly. I just found out very recently that I do have Celiac Disease. If anyone has any suggestions about getting started on the new diet, I would appreciate it if you could try to get back to me. I had no symptoms, but I am kind of on the short side. My doctor thought it was strange because both of my parents are tall. Anyways, if anybody could get back to me, I'll appreciate it again. Thanks, Holly
