  1. Happy birthday and may God bless you today!

  2. Does anyone know if Quaker Cornmeal is gluten free? From looking at ingredients, it looks like it is, but I cannot seem to find anything when researching online. Also wondering if Avon Glazewear Lipstick is gluten free......the avon list only mentions Glazewear liquid lip color, so I am wondering if it may not be. Any help would be appreciated
  3. Endoscopy

I just had the endoscope in November and it was nothing....I also had a colonscopy at the same time and the drug they gave me I guess did not put me "out" per se....but didn't remember a thing and there was not discomfort of any kind when I was fully aware. Pretty sleepy for several hours afterward, but not a problem. Your doctor should tell you ahead of time what they will give you, and if not, I sure would ask. Good luck.....you should do fine.
  4. Does anyone know what kind of dental floss is gluten free? I have tried to research it out, but have not come up with an answer. Also, I have a hard time sleeping and have used Melatonin frequently which seems to help without making me groggy. I read somewhere that anyone with autoimmune diseases should not use it. Does anyone know why? Thanks for any help.
  5. I don't think I would worry a whole lot unless another day or two went by. I know when I have a colonoscopy, it takes me about three days to have a BM. I think totally cleaning the bowels out, it will take a few days for everything to get moving through again. If too worried, I would just contact your doctor and ask for their opinion. If nothing was found in the colonoscopy, it should get back to normal in a few days. Good luck.
  6. I just got a Breadman bread machine, but have not used it yet. I tried making gluten free bread on my old bread machine and it did not work well at all. It just seemed to ball up the dough and didn't mix the liquid in with it. I saw the Breadman in our local store and that it had a gluten free cycle, which I assume mixes differently than regular wheat cycle. I was in store for a new bread machine anyway, so thought it was worth trying. Maybe different mixes mix differently, I don't know, but I am anxious to give it a try.
  7. I had read somewhere on the forum that all Suave products, Hair and lotions, were gluten free. For curiosity I read the Suave shampoo that I use quite often, the Volumizing type, and read the ingredients and it says there is Hydrolyzing Wheat Protein in it. Does anyone know if Suave has a Gluten free product list so you can make sure what you are buying?
  8. I think this is pretty common. I was diagnosed with low iron, actually before I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease. I found out I was Celiac the day before Thanksgiving, but my regular md had gotten a review of my blood work form a Health Fair and put me on iron supplement. I'm assuming it is all associated. I guess I am lucky as mine is just considered mild and hopefully the iron supplements will help bring it up. Good luck...hopefully once your doctor can get you on top of it that will help. I know when I go in for my next physical in the next couple months, I will see what the doctor says about diet for the anemia.
  9. Does anyone have a good pizza crust mix? I used an all-purpose flour mixture (gluten free) as a substitute for regular flour in a regular recipe. I added the xanthum gum as suggesed and also used baking powder instead of yeast. (This is what the recipe called for, as it was a quick pizza crust). Anyway, it was very, very crumbly, hard to roll out. I put it on a pan and just pieced it together as good as possible. It tasted good, was a little chewy and hard. I would like a recipe that you could roll out like regular pizza dough.
  10. Thanks for the reference website. It is great. I did notice that the pkg said the crackers were processed in a facility where wheat is processed. My dietician said to really watch issues with cc.
  11. I am brand new to this forum and am having trouble getting around in the website to find replies to my post and other information. I know it will take time and I will learn, but if anyone has quick help that would be great. Also, I am less than a month from being diagnosed Celiac and have done tons of research online and also have met with my dietician. He was great and after reading other stories, after I FINALLY went to a gastroenterologist, he diagnosed me within a few months. Anyway, I went to a health food store, they carried a lot of stuff besides gluten free, but I found a box of crackers that said the company supported the celiac organization and I asked the clerk if they were gluten free. He said well, yes, it has Celiac organization on the front here. Anyway, I bought them, have been munching away and two days later, read the ingredients, duh!!, and saw there was whey in them. Assuming these are not GOOD and NOT GLUTEN FREE! So, that taught me to be very aware to always read the ingredients as the box or covers can be deceiving.
  12. I see Metamucil is listed as a safe medication, but I got information from a website celiacsyndrome.com that it was on an unsafe list. I'm still confused.
  13. I am newly diagnosed Celiac with a biopsy, so I am just now learning everything as to what I can and cannot eat. I met with my dietician the other day and he gave me a lot of handouts to read! A couple things that were on there, wondering if anyone knows the answer are.....is Metamucil okay to take (or store brand)? I have seen controversary on this, some say yes, some say no. Also, does anyone know what packaged suet is? We grind our own wild game and get suet from the store, but it is just trimmed from meat they are wrapping each day. I am looking forward to this site and help along the way.
