  2. Yes, and another new meaning too, Loey. Our upstairs ensuite has full view of the roof, including my shower room which looks out over the harbor -- no door or curtain, no obscure glass. They got here too early in the morning for me and kept me from washing my hair all day because I didn't want to BE the view
  3. Up until today I have had to go upstairs to peek at what is going on next door -- yes! neighbors' house finally being rebuilt two years and two months after the fact, having settled the wrangling between the Govt. EQC and their private insurer as to who was going to pay for what. Today, after the rain (and before the next rain) they have been flat out putting...
  4. So sorry to hear of Bryce's passing, Em. And poor Jack Animals hold such special places in our hearts.
  5. You forgot one of the previous gems -- they don't have the 'time' (read 'interest') to read stuff that patients bring in for them (especially if it won't help their golf game.)
  6. And after a few thousand miles you will be able to ditch the wheels and the cooler/chillie bin/Eski (that's Yankee, Kiwi and Aussie multilinguality for you )
  7. Hubs was raised in a British household and finds it very hard, too. I was a very non-traditional Kiwi and like nothing other than salt anywhere near my fish and chips, and certainly NOT ketchup
  8. Perhaps you can kidnap her at the airport on the way back from Croatia??? (let her have her holiday first, she will need to rest up before cooking for this greedy bunch )

  10. Ooooohh, gives me shudders first thing in morning... hubs did shopping and cooked for me last night. I cut into my pork chop and said "Are you sure this isn't brined pork?: He said he was sure. So I had a bite and said "Are you SURE?" He goes to look at wrapping, starts reading INGREDIENTS!! I say that pork shouldn't have INGREDIENTS!! Yep, pork loaded...
  11. Many of us have a reaction (non-gluten) to corn and nightshades.
  12. Hubs cooked dinner last night. He made a mushroom gravy with shallots to smother the swedish meatballs and we were both at a loss as to the sweetness of the gravy. I accused him of using powdered sugar by mistake to thicken it but he claimed not. I had recently introduced him to the cannned condensed milk I keep in the pantry for run-out-of-milk emergencies...
  13. Jeepers, Lisa, scary stuff! Glad you made it through that little episode, and good luck with the exam. I will have to make sure hubs is more diligent about his epi. Since he underwent desensitization to bees he is a bit blase about the whole thing. And then there was the raw fish episode in SF .
  14. Sending prayers and loving thoughts to heal your mom. Hang tough, both of you.
  15. Don't forget all them little hobbits are running around down here in Middle Earth. Funny little guys they are, too
  16. Yay, Sylvia (for my breakfast ~~ good to see you) and Peter here too!!! I had also been asking myself, where is Sylvia???? Hubs has been getting a bit creative with food - with things like stuffed fillleted chicken thighs wrapped in prosciutto, cauliflower cheese bake, German potato salad for him and my sis (not all at once). What more could a gal...

  18. WoooHooo, Lisa-gal. Way to GO!!!! So happy for you. Now don't go overdoin' them lentils, restrain yourself!!!! The way to keep 'em is by giving them away Jig-a-jig-jig!!!!
  19. You might find this PubMed abstract interesting: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20042872
  20. Now psillies, this is something really psilly, but I suppose it was just a mattter of time.... Great for all Texans and Oklahomans and Tennesseeans digging out from your second blizzard in a row: http://www.stuff.co.nz/life-style/fashion/8358098/Dark-times-at-Milan-Fashion-Week Yes, you've got it, admit it, you want it, ...

  22. Thanks!! (adjusts clothing). Just had to share this from Joan Rivers (read it while I was on the wall ) : When you're an old lady, it's hard to wear a short skirt if your nipples are going to show underneath it.
