  1. Things kept going so badly for me after being gluten free.I got sicker and had blood in my stool with severe cramping and mucousy diarreah(sp).I went to another doctor in another town.He set me up for all kinds of blood work and procedures.Got the results back Monday.NO celiac! He showed me the pictures of a normal stomach and intestenal lining---mine.No damage except a few erosions from acid.Got to get off the colas and ibuprofen.I really should have thought of the ibuprofen because it makes me bruise externally very bad.To all of you who do have celiac my heart goes out to you. Oh yeah, the first dr showed me no test results,no pics.He never sat down and talked to me or asked questions. The only thing I have to worry about now is the tumor on my thyroid.
  2. 1.Biscuits 2.Biscuits 3.Biscuits Oh Lord,I could eat biscuits all day.
  3. I am using rice flour for my breakfast breads.I want to know if you absolutely have to use rice flour or can you use another flour in its place. For instance,if a recipe calls for x amount of rice flour and x amount of tapioca flour, can I use a different flour in place of the rice flour?I just cannot get accustomed to the "sandy" feel of rice flour. Are there any recipes for bread that do not call for rice flour?
  4. Question

I have a question.I posted a topic in "pre-diagnosis etc",but it is not on the board. What happened to it?I did a search and found that I had posted it there, but where is it?The title was "can you".
  5. Can you have acid reflux AND celiac? For 2 years I was treated for acid reflux, took the medication and did fine. Then my dr.movedand I had to get another one. This guy wants everybody to go to some specialist or another. So I went to a digestive specialist. Now they won't give me the medication I was taking then.I am gluten free, but I still have the full bloated feeling and I upchuck just a little.I feel like I have been glutened but that is the way I felt before they gave me the medication for acid reflux. Can some one understand what I am trying to say and help me?
  6. I Hate This

The lady at the health food store told me that since it was made from sprouted grain it had no flour, therefore no gluten. She is on a gluten-free diet and she uses it. There is still so much I don't know or understand about all this.
  7. I Hate This

I have never had a problem with dairy or corn.I really don't feel this way all the time.Last week I was fine.I stuck to cornbread all week and for breakfast I used the Ezekiel bread--cinnamon and raisin.I am doing the same this week but feel lousy .I guess I really get down too easily, but I am 55 years old and have been at this for a year.It IS hard to teach an old dog a new trick!
  8. I Hate This

I'm gluten free and STILL bloated and feel crappy.I will be so glad when I can feel good again.I'm not really sick, just feel as big as a blimp and stomach feels weird.I am so careful to not eat gluten yet I still feel like I have.Does anyone else feel this way?Sometimes I think if I am going to feel this way,I might as well eat the foods I want so badly.
  9. What is the difference in being celiac and being gluten intolerant?I thought gluten intolerant WAS celiac. What are the symptoms of gluten intolerance?
  10. Freezing

[The wheat free biscuit and baking mix is gluten free.I would like to make them about three or four days in advance.I am going to try it. quote=KaitiUSA,Sep 2 2005, 08:34 AM] Some of Bob's Red Mill Stuff contains gluten. Wheat free does not mean gluten free so check on that. How long in advance were you planning on making biscuits? Freezing for a few days works for me alot. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  11. Grrrr....

elonwy,"since time began"is just an expression for" all our lives".Also for most people time began with the Bible.Wheat is mentioned in the Bible. Not getting smart alecky, just explaining myself.
  12. Clothes Help!

I am celiac complete with that awful rash.It is on my buttocks.Does anyone else have this problem?I cannot wear womens panties because when I do the rash pops up right on the panty leg line.I am reduced to wearing boys briefs that come down on the leg. Also nylon panty hose and girdles set it off too.Can anyone tell me how to deal with this?
  13. Grrrr....

My husband doesn't understand this whole celiac thing and often gets frustrated with me when I can't just eat a sandwich like everyone else.He doesn't like for me to keep saying "I can't eat that".He just can't see why the very thing that kept this country alive(wheat) can hurt you.He told me the doctors are full of "it",that everyone has eaten wheat since time began,so why is it so bad now.Good question.
  14. Most of the time I walk.Just go out in the yard and wear out the grass.I can't be still, because I am so uncormfortable.I tend to withdraw from everyone and try to walk where no one will bother me.I don't like for people(even family) to see me when I am not my best.I have a hard time coping with being sick.I have never been a whiner, nor could I tolerate anyone who was.If I can't go outside,I do to another room and do some kind of craft--standing up.When I sit down I feel like there is something on top of my stomach that doesn't belong there.Sometimes I get into a good hot bath and just lie there.
  15. I bought the Bob's Red Mill Wheat free Baking mix. What I need to know is,can you freeze the biscuits for cooking at a later date?If so how long will they keep?I would like to be able to freeze some to take when I go camping.
