    Michelle, my daughter Shelby (6) will be going on the pump in August. It is such a pain for us both finding gluten-free carbs (avg 40carbs per meal)that she likes. Now that u r on the pump do u eat alot less carbs (15-20) then before? I feel like we are practically shoving food down her. The only fruit she will eat is Stawberries...way low carbs or applesauce. She has lactaid 13carbs with meals. I am hoping with the pump it will be easier. Has it been for you? Do you eat alot less carbs now?
  5. One last question. what is IgA serum? That one is still really high. Does that mean she is still getting gluten somewhere? This is so confusing.

  7. My daughter has been gluten-free for 2 months. Still having stomach pain. Gastro doc ran Celiac panel again. {tTG} Ab, IgG <20 neg {tTG Ab, IgA <20 neg GLIADIN Ab IgA 35 HIGH (>30 MOD TO STRONG POSITIVE) iGa, serum 247 high (RANGE 33-235) our doc is away for the week. Another doc said it can take a while for numbers to come down. DOES ANYONE AGREE? cAN ANYONE EXPLAIN THESE NUMBERS? Any input would be helpful.
  8. Our 5 year old daughter has recently been diagnosed. Biopsy showed no damage but stain test (??) was positive. Only symptom is dull stomach pain. Has been gluten-free for 2 months...no improvement. She is also lactose intolerant and type 1 diabetic. When we mentioned to gastro doc that playdoh has gluten or that some lotions and other products have gluten she seemed to think that avoiding these things are not necessary. She said that she only has a mild case, beginning celiac, no damage done. Is it really necesary to avoid non food products? Does it get absorbed through skin contact? Are most of the message board members severely affected celiacs? We are not trying to be ignorant or offend, it is just that we don't feel our docs really know much beside diagnosing. We are just trying to get more perspectives from actual celiacs. One last question, does anyone ever get "bad growing pains" in their legs? Thank you in advance for your help
  9. my 5 year old has been diagnosed with celiac disease. The doctor said she also is lactose intolerant. She has been gluten-free for 1 month, but still has stomach pain...no other symptoms. She also is type 1 diabetic. Can she continue to have milk products as long as i give her lactose tablets before hand? Dairy is a huge part of her daily diet since she uses this for her "carbs". Is it possible the stomach pain is from dairy....even with lactose pills? Also, she has been put on prevacid, flovent, and zantac,,,, is this excessive? The Dr. has her on this for the stomach pain (due they say to esonophils in her esophagus).
