  1. I get canker sores when I drink to much coffee or eat to much sugar. Or if I'm really stressed out which makes me drink more coffee, cause I'm ussually tired.
  2. Hi, I suffer from dizzy spells also. Sometimes they can be very scary because you wonder if they are going to happen when you are driving or walking down the stairs. I have found that I get them from seasonal allergies, eating gluten, inner ear problems, and also constipation which usually accompanies a sore throat.

  5. It seems like coin-op thinks he has it all figured out. If that is the case than why is he subscribing to this forum? This forum is here to help support each other, not try to prove that one person's diet is better than some one else
  6. Have you thought about corn? I can't eat it. It is a grain, isn't it? I ussually have a little different symtoms from eating corn than gluten. I ussually itch. Just an idea.
  7. Doxepin that is manufactured by Mylan I was told is gluten free. I contacted the company and they said that none of their medications are processed with gluten that they use only corn and potato starch in there processing, but that they don't actually test their products to see if they are gluten free. If that makes sense. But I have been taking it for a couple of months and have no side effects. I take the 10mg for anxiety and itching. Hope this helps.
  8. I usually have symptoms for about three days after I have ingested some gluten. I have found though that if I get really constipated the symptoms can last longer. If you are like me you should make sure and eat some extra fiber or take a laxative to help get it out of your body. When it is stuck in your body, I think that your symptoms are a lot worse and the duration is a lot longer. I don't know about the diarrhea thing that has never been one of my symptoms. Good luck!

  10. Hey Gretchen, I'm glad you got some vitamins. I think they will help a lot. I ussually take two to four packets everyday. The extra vitamin-C helps ward off colds, and the vitamins help me have energy. Most of the flavors are good it just depends on what you like. I don't really like that mixed berry one with Calcium but I still use it cause it's the only flavor with a lot of calcium. I don't know if you noticed but they all have a little bit different vitamins in them. There is one that has Glucosamine & Chondroitin, these are really good for your joints. I know that I read on one of these forums that some celiacs have joint problems. Also there is one that has MSM which is suppost to help with energy. I read in an article that the blood veins in your brain actually swell(ie bloating and swelling, leaky gut syndrome) up when you eat gluten and that is what causes ADD and Cloudy head. If I remember were I read the article I will post it. Isn't it wonderful to have a day full of energy! If I had one majic wish it would be energy.

DO NOT USE products made from these flours such as semolina. DO NOT USE pastas such as spaghetti, macaroni, lasagne. DO NOT USE products that are just labelled starch, food starch, edible starch or modified starch. BEWARE of any products that may use starch as a filler such as mustard powder and white pepper.   13. I definitely agree with the b vitamin thing. We suffer from lack of absorption so we have to ingest a lot higher levels of vitamins to hope that we absorb some. If you don't want to get shots, there are some really good vitamins out there. They are made by Alacer Corp. The vitamins also come in powder form, which is a lot easier to digest. There is a web site on the box www.alacercorp.com. I get them at the local co-op market. I have not contacted the company to verify that they are gluten-free but I've never had a reaction to them. The vitamins are called Emer'gen-C the base of them is actually Vitamin-C which also helps with lack of energy. They are bonded to trace minerals making them non-acidic. I know I can't handle all the acid in regular vit-C. The majority of them contain very high levels of B Vitamins. After I drink a couple of these I actually feel energy. I use to drink caffeine when I was tired, but these actually give you more energy than caffeine. Just an idea
  14. Hi Gretchen, is nice to talk to someone who understands. About My meds I also take Alegra 180mg. I contacted both maufacturers and they both stated that their products are not made with any gluten, but that they are not tested to be gluten free, and that their supplier could change at anytime. I have only been on the Doxepin for about a month and the Alegra for about two months. I am very careful about cross contamination and reading food lables, it's quite an art. It's amazing the names that gluten can fall under: Such as natural flavorings, maltodextrin, vegetable protein. But it is very hard not ever get any. I think that I may have other food sensitivities but it is a very long process and the doctors seem to know less than we do. Also the city I live in is not that big, the closest place to go for real testing would probably be the Mayo Clinic in Arizona. That would be very time consuming and costly so it's kind of a last resort. But I try to stay postive, I'm glad that I don't have cancer or something like that, some people our age and younger do. Also my sister in law also has a lot of food sensitivties so we get together and cook a lot. Thanks for listening and nice to meet you. Rebecca
  15. Grieving The Old Life

    I understand, it's like everyday is a struggle. Things that other people take for granted like going to the drive through window of a fast food place. Or grocery shopping-it takes hours just to read all those lables. You always have to think about what your putting in your body, and what's coming out. My husband is the drive through king. So I'm always watching him eat fast food well I'm cooking some concocktion that I thought up. People are always asking what are you eating. You always have to turn down food that other people are offering you and say your not hungry or something. But look on the bright side you don't have to take some horrible medication for this, that is expensive and has terrible side effects. If you balance your diet with plenty a vegetables and substitute wheat flours with rice flour, garbanzo flour, potato flour, buckwheat flour, almond flour, among other flours. You will be a lot healthier than the average person. Plus everybody has hard things to deal with. This is just a minor set back compared to cancer and a lot of other terrible diseases. CHIN UP!
