  1. Hi, I am wondering if anyone has a few ideas of gluten free/friendly places to eat dinner in the Southbury, CT area? I will be in Southbury ALL next week for business and am a little concerned about where to eat. I am planning to bring food with me, but I would like to try and get out of the hotel at night. I have stayed in Southbury before and there is not too much of anything in that general area. I know I might have to go up or down RT 84 a little, but any suggestions are going to be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
  2. Thai Food

I am just outside of Portland and am very familiar with Pom's Thai. If you check out the take out menu, they actually label everything that is gluten free. Look for "wheat" with an "x" through it. My dietician clued me in to this. I have eaten at a few other local Thai restaurants and usually get pineapple fried rice and have done really well with it. Good luck, hope this helps!
  3. Thanks for the help! I double checked the polenta, nothing suspicious in the ingredients. I eat other corn products and grains fairly often with no effects. Double checked the cumin, companies website says all the spices are single ingredient and gluten free. The grill has not been used for anything w/ gluten recently, but could probably use a good cleaning. The only thing in the dinner I have not eaten since diagnosis is the nectarine. Judging by Gfresh404's comments maybe it was the skin. I was diagnosed in March of 2009 so this is all still pretty new. In the past few weeks I am learning that it is more than just about being gluten free since I seem to be reacting to things that I know are gluten free. I have tried to reduce CC as much as humanly possible. Hopefully these intolerances that are popping up are a result of healing villi and will get better with time. Or I could be just deluding myelf! Thanks for the suggestions. I never feel more frustrated than when I get sick after a meal and I did everything I could to not use gluten containing ingredients and avoid CC! Sara
  4. Hi, I am a newly diagnosed celiac and have been doing my best for the past few months to be as gluten free as possible. Symptoms are....better but not gone. My dietician recommended going dairy free for a few weeks to see if that helps. Keeping the dairy free/gluten free thing in mind I thought dinner tonight was safe until I was running for the bathroom about 10 min after dinner. Dinner consisted of: Grilled chicken rubbed in cumin and olive oil pre-made polenta grilled nectarines/blackberries and cilantro w/ lime juice Very basic ingredients and yet my stomach is quite unhappy. Anyone have any ideas? It is so frustrating to be diagnosed and yet still not understand what is making me sick. Any ideas will be much appreciated! Sara
