  1. Does anyone have an experience with the side effects of the Prevpac medication?? I have been on it for 8 days and have felt fine until now. I feel SOOOOOOO awful i'm on the verge of going to the ER. Stomach pain, cramps, bloating, gas, nausea, not really any D though. It comes in waves practically bringing me to tears from the discomfort (and frustration!). Is it common to have such a delayed reaction to this type of antibiotic treatment? I am not sure where to go from here!!!! HELP!!!!
  2. I have had similar problems (sensitive to touch under ribs and to the left of my belly button and gurgling, etc) and I have been gluten free for almost a year now. After about three months of feeling that way off and on and have a constant sensitive to the touch stomach and many sleepless nights I was diagnosed with H. Pylori three days ago. Here is a link of where you can obtain more info about H. Pylori (http://www.uptodate.com/patients/content/topic.do?topicKey=~gi0iITvAhVEvR5#H3) but it may be something you should get tested for. Its usually detected with just a simple blood test and treated with an aggressive dose of antibiotics, but its worth it. I am on day two of the antibiotics and I am already feeling better! Hope you get to feeling better soon! In the mean time, gas-x, a heating pad, and peppermint tea helped me when I felt that way.
  3. Thanks for your advice! I started a "modified" Prevpac today, same stuff and dosage just not in the pre-packaged box. I hope it works and that I dont have to many unpleasant side affects. I'm sick of feeling sick so here goes nothing!
  4. Does anyone have any experience with having celiac and h. pylori? I tested positive for celiac back in May 2009. Just this past week I tested positive for h. pylori bacteria after a few months of on and off stomach burning, bloating, etc. They want me to take the Prevpac and I wondering if anyone has taken it? I'm hesitant to take it because of all the side effects people have reported. Is there an alternative option??? Thanks!
  5. Ok, I have been gluten free for almost a year. I instantly felt better after going gluten free and was feeling fantastic until around the end of November 2009. SInce then I have been experiencing symptoms similar to what I had before going gluten free. My stomach burns, gets bloated feeling, gassy, and really grumbly, and constipation. I notice it almost every evening, it never fails! I seem to be living on Gas-X as my crutch. Its been going on for 4 months now and I can't seem to figure out what is happening. I've checked and double checked everything I eat.... The only thing I can trace it back to is when I got my hair cut (4 months ago) and changed shampoo. A few days ago it dawned on me that the shampoo contained WHEAT! I don't get skin rashes or anything of the sort, but is it possible that the shampoo is causing my symptoms to flare up no matter what I do?? Or could it be something else?? HELP! It's making me crazy!!!
  6. So I'm new here and I usually HATE posting on forums but I have a question: About 3 weeks ago I started to feel really sick again after being gluten free for 8 months. Prior to then I had been feeling really really well! I thought maybe I had been glutened. Instead I discovered I had been taking an OTC medication that is gluten free but had been recalled. I immediately stopped taking the medication and contacted my Dr. who told me I would be fine. Brings me to today 3 weeks later and I'm still not feeling well. I have symptoms almost like I have gastritis?? Burning, crampy pain right below my rib cage, gasy, etc. Could the reaction to the recalled medication have irritated my stomach so bad that it cause this kind of flare up?? Since my stomach is already so vulnerable will it just take sometime to go away?? I'm just so confused and I dont know what to think. I have been very very careful as to what I'm eating and I have started taking a probiotic. Help?????
  7. Hi- I'm new here. I've been gluten free since May 2009. Prior to finding out about having celiac, I had my gall bladder removed b/c they didn't know what else to do. Surprise surprise it didn't help and 7 months later I had to suggest having the celiac test done! Anyways, I have been doing REALLY well since then!! But tonight I think I have been glutened! I was wondering if anyone has any "home remedies" they use to help relieve some symptoms?? My symptoms tend to be: Gas Tightness/Pain/Crampy in my stomach on the left side directly below my diaphragm Typically i get anxiety attacks when I feel this way as well Sometimes, but not as often as before going gluten free, diarrhea Also it feels as if my stomach/intestines have their own pulse! Any suggestions would be really helpful!! Thanks!!!
