  1. I read the post but she is a type 2 diabetic which means with proper diet & usually exercise type 2 diabetics can live with out the need for insulin. But I am insulin dependant, my body makes no insulin & will remain on it for the rest of my life.
  2. Yes I am on an insulin pump. I actually just upgraded my pump the first of this year to the newest version of the one I was on.
  3. I have major issues with quick drops in my sugar levels & am also working on raising money for a diabetic service dog for help with my lows so I am always needing to keep my sugar as stable as possible & need to be able to get it up quickly & keep it up. Does that make sense?
  4. My doctor called me today saying that they need to schedule me for a biopsy to check for the damage that celiac may have done. They said its not manditory but strongly encourages it. Has anyone had one? What do they do? Does it hurt? Are you awake or asleep? About how long does the whole process take? Any risks involved? Can someone be there in the room with me when they do it? I HATE it when they have to have blood taken every appointment so am very fearful of how I'm gonna handle it if I have to have one. Any pro's or con's if I decide to or not to have one?
  5. Thanks so much for your story. It does make it soo much harder for me to want to do what I am supposed to without a constant nagging of stomach pain & discomfort to remind me to not do that. I am already picky about food so I know it will be a loooong slow road to getting this new diet down pat.

  7. Did seeing a dietician work for you? Being diabetic was easy cause carbs are required to be listed on all food labels but gluten is not listed. So did talking to the dietician really help you get a good idea of what is good & what is bad?
  8. Wouldnt there be a sensitivity factor that would vary person to person? So if I can eat a little bit with no discomfort or pain wouldnt it be ok to consume just a little? I am a single mother so I cant afford to eat completely gluten free & being diabetic there will be times when I may have to consume gluten to correct a severe low blood sugar.
  9. What would happen if I just continue to eat the way I do? Or if I dont totally remove gluten from my diet? Feeling like more & more of my life is now being majorly restricted is enough to make me crack. Is there a step process that I can follow? My doctor said to just evaluate what I eat & leave it out or make substitutions but are there any steps to get into this new lifestyle? Help...
  10. I had "High antibodies" to my thyroid & it ending up being Hashimoto's Thyroid which was treatable with just a simple pill everyday. But I am having similar issues to yours. I am lactose intolerant but also diabetic so everything I eat now affects me so I go throughout the day always feeling hungry. My doctor told me to make a list of the top 10 foods I know I love, check to see if any of them have gluten free alternatives & to start small. Right now I've only gotten chicken caesar salad (I found a caesar dressing that is gluten free), steak with oven roasted potatos, & I made substitutions to make a favorite chicken casserole recipe gluten free. Hope that helps.
