  1. So, I had been feeling really crummy for a few weeks and could not identify a source of gluten. I thought maybe cross-contamination but if that was the case it would have to be persistent because my symptoms were not getting better. I went so far as to inquire about the vodka used for a vodka sauce I had twice during my reaction period. Then today for lunch I went to a place I frequent with an excellent gluten free menu. They even bring out special "gluten free" chips to serve while the rest of the table has bread. Only this time the waitress was informed enough to let me know that they do not use a dedicated fryer for the chips and so if I'm highly sensative I may want to beware. I think this may have been the cause? I've eaten there several times and eaten the chips without thinking to ask about the fryer. Needless to say, I did not partake in the chips this time around. I think sometimes it just feels good to come up with a potential source of the problem.
  2. Bloating was always a gluten symptom of mine. My belly swells huge, almost looks like a pregnant belly. I've been accidentally glutened on Friday. I'm making my way through my symptoms and eating naturally gluten free food, etc. But my belly is still bloating after eating and it is Monday. I don't remember if the bloating went away immediately after I stopped eating gluten before. My question is does anyone else experience this when they've been glutened, where they continue to bloat after eating for a while even though the subsequent meals are not gluten foods? Thank you.
  3. I've been reacting to something and I'm certain I haven't been getting any gluten. I've been logging food items and I think I may be reacting to corn. I've done some research and there seems to be conflicting information about what you have to avoid for a corn sensativity, whether it is all corn in all forms (i.e.) corn starch, and other corn derivatives or only that which would include the corn protien. Does anyone have any other information or thoughts on this? I'd like to collect all the information I can before meeting with the Dr. Thank you!
  4.     Thank you for the reply. I did check the website and see the notice that the cranberry medication is gluten free, however, when you select the urinary relief (AZO standard) product I am not seeing any FAQ about gluten.
  5. Does anyone know if the AZO urinary relief (formerly AZO Standard) is gluten free. I am having awful gluten symptoms and can not pinpoint where it is coming from. When I checked on this I noticed that the product had changed (renamed and repackaged) and they removed their gluten free notice from the FAQs. I am going to try and contact the company but if anyone already knows I'd appreciate a quick reply. Thank you!
  6. I was glutened almost 2 weeks ago through cross contamination. I am still have constipation and major bloating. I know everyone is different but on avergage how long does your bloating and symptoms last? I'm usually so careful I can't remember how long it takes for it to go away. It's so uncomfortable. Just looking for some encouragement that the end of the bloat will be near. Also, does anyone have any tips for ending it? I've been drinking water like crazy. Thank you in advance.
  7. We have a shared kitchen. It hasn't been a terrible issue yet. My husband is very cautious. I'm replacing our kitchen utensils (spatulas, etc) and wanted to know if there was a material that would be more resistent to cross contamination problems. I think I read that wood utensils were a no-go? How about silicon? Obviously they would be washed in the dishwasher between uses. Any thoughts?
  8. Does anyone know if the Skinny Girl drink products are gluten safe. I emailed the company about the Skinny Girl Margaritas and they emailed back and said those were okay. They now have sangria and cosmo drinks. I have not yet heard back from the company (they are a bit slow). However, I was wondering if anyone else knew. Thank you!
  9. I'm not talking about an on-purpose glutening, but when you ate something you thought to be safe and then learned it wasn't. Only you didn't have any noticeable symptoms. I'm just curious.
  10. I've had some symptoms that I had attributed to gluten reoccur over the last several days. I've been gluten free for about a year and have had some accidental misteps but for the most part I've always been able to trace it back. It's very important to me that I trace it back to something for piece of mind purposes and so that I do not make the same mistake again. This time, however, I am having an awful time finding the source. My best guess is a ceasar salad I ate a restaurant. I told the waitress that I had an allergy to gluten. I requested she ask about the dressing (which she said she did). I requested no croutons and there weren't any. There were, however, these crispy capers and now I'm wondering. Although, I would think it would just be capers in some oil and be okay -- I am wondering. I have contacted the establishment to ask and have not heard back from them yet. If anyone has any thoughts on how crispy capers woudl be made and if that could be the source I'd appreciate it.
  11. If you get glutened from cross contamination or a small/slight ingestion of gluten are your symtpoms less severe and/or do do you notice that you are not affected for as long a period of time?
  12. Here's the background. I was not diagnosed with a blood test or biopsy. I was diagnosed by elimination diet. By the time I got to the Dr. (long story but it was a new Dr. and it took a while to get in as a new patient and I had waited a while before calling anyway) after feeling like I had the flu for months my brother-in-law who is a dietician suggested I see if gluten was causing my symptoms. I was feeling better. I got into the Dr. and she said I either go with the gluten free or take the gluten challenge. The idea of feeling that same way again terrified me. So here I am. I've been gluten free (minus some slip-ups) since March. However, I still have boughts (like this last week) where I feel like my gluten symptoms have returned and I cannot trace it back to any gluten. Today I was having earache-like pain when I took deep breaths. This is usually a sign of gluten (or at least I thought). But I can't come up with any gluten that I've eaten. I've been so careful. The ups and downs are driving me crazy and causing my to wonder if I'm not really diagnosed at all and there's something else wrong. Anyone else experience these types of feelings, etc?
  13. Anyone know if Hunt's diced tomatoes with sweet onion is gluten free? I don't see anything on the label to be concerned about but thought I would ask if someone knew for sure.
