Annie73 replied to Annie73's topic in Celiac Disease - Post Diagnosis, Recovery/Treatment(s)Thanks so much for taking the time to reply, everyone! I really hope it's just part of the healing process, it's so annoying and painful at times. I will look at getting some potassium also. What happens if you accidentally eat a food that you are allergic to? Do you have symptoms of glutening...? Thanks again!
Hello everyone! Well this is my very first post here, and I am glad to have found this site! A little background on me. I have a six year old son who has Type 1 diabetes and through routine bloodwork for that, was found to also have celiac. He has no symptoms of celiac, but the biopsy confirmed the sky-high blood test numbers. About 5 years ago I suspected that I may have celiac and had my blood tested and it was negative. I continued to have all kinds of symptoms. I ignored it and moved on assuming that it couldn't be celiac. So after my son's biopsy 2 weeks ago, I asked them to retest my blood. This time if was very positive and also they found that I am very deficient in B-12. I went back to the doctor for a shot of B-12. They told me to pick up a vitamin B supplement and I have been taking a B-12 that melts under your tongue. Now to my question (s)! . Although I have dealt with mild tingling in my fingers for the last several years, it has suddenly got much worse. Since right after the B-12 shot (in my left arm) my left hand has been killing me. All day and night there is tingling and an icy cold/burning pain. It even radiates up past my wrist. Could this be a reaction to the injection? Will it go away? Is there anything I can take to help with the discomfort? And also, should I go back to see my family doctor about this and if so, what can they do? Is there another doctor or specialist I should see? Another thing I am hoping you can help me with, is how do food allergies come into play with celiac. Along with the blood test for celiac, they also tested for food allergies and it was noted I am allergic to pork..? I have been eating it my whole life, I never knew. Although since my sons blood test about 8 weeks ago we have been eating gluten-free, I still keep having bad days of diarrhea, cramping, headaches, and complete exhaustion. I realized I have been putting bacon bits on my baked potatoes and wondered if that could be the culprit? Sorry if that's a dumb question, I just can't figure out why I still feel like I'm being glutened when Im so careful. Thank you so much for reading through all of this and any advice you can give!!
