    I was just curious if you could share what was going on that you thought you had lupus but it was celiac related? The reason I ask is that I was diagnosed with Celiac in April of 2012 but my mom refused to get tested because "she's never had any problems with her stomach" which I tried explaining that doesn't have anything to do with it but she wouldn't listen. Now she's breaking out in splotchy redness all over her face - big red spots - and the dermatologist told her she might have lupus. She noticed that when she ate bread it was worse so I told her to watch what she was eating and when the break outs occurred - but then she avoided bread for a day and still had a break out so now she doesn't thing bread/gluten has anything to do with it. I am insisting she get tested for Celiac because she might have it or DH. They are going to do a full work up but they leaning towards Lupus. Anything you can share would be helpful for me to share with her. I appreciate it!
  7. I Need Help Dealing

    I had a really hard time with my diagnosis so I am sorry to hear that you are as well. I was diagnosed in April of 2012 and went through a divorce in September of 2012 so was trying to deal with two of the hardest things in my life in the same year. I was talking with a psychologist once a week and he helped me a lot with the divorce but not really with the Celiac diagnosis. I think maybe because he just didn't understand it and I was educating him? I found this board though and it was a lifesaver. Anytime I have a question or am feeling down I come here and can usually find the answer and/or support. I think it helps to talk to people that are going through the same thing as you because they understand the feelings. The first year is definately the hardest - it will get better. It took me about a year to really get a good grasp on the diet. Now it's second nature and I actually can't imagine ever eating Gluten again. It will take a while to start feeling better too so that messes with your head because it's depressing when you aren't seeing results - It just takes time - hang in there. Best of luck.   10. Chipotle gluten-free?

    Question - does anyone with Celiac ever eat Chipotle? I always ask them to change their gloves and get a bowl - no flour tortilla - however - I feel like I've been Glutened and that Chipotle is the Culprit. Can anyone share their Chipotle gluten-free experience so those of us with Celiac know if it is safe or not? Thank you!! Jordan
  11. How Long Did It Take You To Feel Better?

    I was diagnosed in April 2012 and went gluten-free immediately - I am now just comfortable with my diet (gluten & lactose free). It took a long time to get comfortable eating outside of my own kitchen. I question everything; max & ermas had a "gluten-free Salmon" however when I asked about the suspicious sauce I was told it had soy sauce in it (hidden gluten). I immediately notified the store manager and had the menu updated to reflect the salmon with NO SAUCE! It seems like all the good extra stuff always had hidden gluten (sauces, toppings, dressings, etc. ) I know you may feel frustrated but its very important to continue with the gluten-free diet even if you are still healing (research leaky gut and celiac).     Boost is a great meal supplement (gluten and lactose free) - I carry one and drink it if I get too busy to eat (taste better col though so leave room in your cooler for a few!)
