  1. Making steak and baked potatoes tonight....once I get the motivation to get the steaks going anyway....I would rather grill them but it's too cold!!
  2. I've been doing so much baking/cooking the past few weeks I'm not doing anything today. Someone else can cook tonight
  3. I made some gluten-free cinnamon rolls last night--they are baking in the oven right now. They better be good because they were a pain in the rear to make . Prime rib is on the menu for Christmas Dinner today. That has been dry aging in the fridge for a couple days now.
  4. We have a request for stew when our oldest comes to visit for Christmas! Almost done with the Christmas baking. I want to do some turtles using Rolo candy and gluten-free pretzels. I'm debating about making mini cheesecakes too. I'm running out of time so we will see. I have to get some real food bought and prepped too. We have one family get together...
  5. I had some leftover pancake mix that I put in the fridge overnight and made some for breakfast. The mix held up overnight and the pancakes were actually a little lighter this morning. Nice to know Pork chops tonight--not sure what I'm going to serve with them, probably zucchini.
  6. Had pancakes and bacon. I thought I had some of the Bisquick gluten-free mix but I didn't, but I found some Krusteaz in the cupboard. They were good, on the sweetside, but so are their gluten mixes. They are heavy and they don't bubble up like gluten ones so it's a new learning curve to cook them .
  7. We used to make those hot dogs all the time when we were little. I LOVED those (and forgot about them).
  8. going to try homemade pizza tonight. I got some Bob's pizza crust mix and a new baking stone.
  9. That is a deal!!! Prime rib was on sale at my store yesterday. I don't normally buy it this early but it was too good to pass up!!
  10. The recipe was basically the same, but called for butter vs using Crisco shortening like he normally does. I am not a fan of cookies made with butter--just too gummy and greasy. My friend that mixed the flours for me said she uses her normal recipes and adds Xantan Gum appropriately. I've had her baking and they are fine.
  11. Finally got the "I can't believe it's gluten-free" cookbook. Hubs made the peanut butter cookies in the recipe. He made them with butter so they are pretty flat and gooy but at least they aren't like eating sand. They taste fine. I have a flour mix that a friend put together for me (she has been gluten-free for several years). I want him to use his regular...
  12. Last time I had Salisbury Steak was when I was a kid and it was out of a Swanson's box in an aluminum tray LOL.
  13. Again, I know old post, but Mumps are going around the country so just be aware it could be that. I had a salivary stone in a gland and oh boy does that hurt! It was under my jaw to the right of my trachea. Try massaging the gland from your ear toward your trachea and see if you get saliva out-often with a funky metallic taste.
  14. I think the overall flavor would be fine even if it's not drinkable as a solo delight . Probably can't duplicate it gluten-free though since it's such a gluten heavy drink.
  15. Anyone have any ideas for a gluten-free substitute for Guinness Beer? I have an Irish Stew recipe that we like to make in the winter but it needs Guinness or a dark beer.
  16. Went to Jimmy John's last night. I checked and double checked with them to make sure everything was gluten-free--or what I could have was gluten-free. They called their manager to "verify" too....sicker than a dog today. Did some more research, their roast beef is NOT gluten-free....I will be stopping by to make sure they don't do that to someone else...
  17. Dinner tonight, turkey, mashed potatoes, etc Happy Thanksgiving!!
  18. Steaks (and salmon for my meat allergic kid), roasted brussel sprouts with cranberries and baked potatoes. I found the brussel sprout recipe on Pinterest so I haven't tried it yet.
  19. People claim Kraft is good at labeling but.... I used to use the Zesty Italian all the time. When I was first diagnosed I switched to Wish Bone Italian because I couldn't tell if the Kraft stuff was gluten-free or not. I've since found I like the Wish Bone MUCH better . Yes, I know this is from 2008, but since it's been pulled up....
  20. I was home for a few days and I don't know what my hubs did while I was gone but I spent more time in the bathroom than not. I'm on the road again and my system has settled down. When I'm back home I think I have to start all over and clean the kitchen and such again. I am NOT happy. I know he brought out our old toaster and I had to clean that up but...
  21. I made Chili yesterday. Shopped at a new grocery store that was mostly "organic" foods. Chili was horrible!! I have to go back to my not organic stuff . The seasonings I bought were bland and just awful. Good thing I made a small batch. I doctored it up some after I tasted it so it's ok but just not the same. Making roast beef and mashed potatoes...
  22. The Betty Crocker mix is no where near as sticky as the Glutino stuff I tried before!! It's still a little sticky but responded better to oiled hands . It's par-baking right now so we will see how it tastes in a while. Ok--it was ok. Just not like regular pizza crust. It was a bit dry and flaky but it is what it is with gluten-free flours I guess.
  23. I got some Betty Crocker pizza dough mix so I'm going to try that tonight. I've been craving pizza but other than the frozen stuff, I don't have anywhere to get real pizza near me.
  24. Something got me yesterday. I hardly ate so it was either the baked potato with their "buttery spread and sour cream", the Baked Lay's Potato Chips or the Greek Yogurt. I glanced at labels but I didn't see anything. I was flying and when I got into the airport everything but the news stands were closed. UGGG.
  25. It's just Olive Oil. It was in the oil section of the store I got it at--top shelf
