  2. topic is self explanatory. with no bread, etc... how can i get a good amount of carbs. im liking this atkins thing, cause i can eat a wendys hamburger without a bun. but i can feel my body craving for carbs... ...so my question is, what are good gluten-free foods to eat that will give me a good dose of carbs. ive started to lose weight, and im skinny enough. thanks for any input -pete
  3. tammy, contacting them and letting them know how you feel is never a bad thing. they are there to serve the people, and they need to know what the people need. i say, write or call as soon as you can.

  6. hey everyone... i dunno what to say. i guess i just need to vent. my gluten-free of 10 months just broke up with me because she "doesnt want to deal with whatever i have" yeah... she was a great gluten-free i guess it was inevitable... if she left me for this it was most likely an excuse for other things. but i dunno... i thought things were going well. has anyone else's sig other left them because of celiac? i mean... yes, she has her own problems and i can understand... but im getting no support. im depressed enough finding out that i have celiac (but thx to you ppl i already feel better), but this just sucks now. im just venting... sorry... can anyone relate... have you found someone else? i have a hard enough time finding a gluten-free. ive only had 6 in my life (im 23), but ive broken most of them off. i just feel like every woman i meet from now on is going to take my condition into consideration. so what if we cant eat out at any restaurant, or buy regular pasta at the grocery store... id hope that theyd stay with me for me, not some medical condition. but i guess there are weak people out there and dont want to deal with real life situations. ok... im done... thx for the vent session. take care everyone btw.. im a 23 yr old, single, 6 ft tall, brown hair, intranet admin for a big company... any takers thx again -pete

  8. just a quick question... what cooking oils are gluten-free? i saw on the list here that canola oil is safe, but what about olive, vegtable, etc. i used to cook with the basic crisco vegtable oil (sue me... im a single bachelor hehe) ive looked at some other resources, and i cant find an answer (yes or no) about cooking oils. thanks

  10. ive seen alot of messages here from people about the ages they were diagnosed with celiac. couple questions... - is it genetic? - can someone develop it later in life (im 23 and was just diagnosed a few days ago), does this mean ive had it my whole life? up until a few months ago i never had any stomach or GI issues. but reading some of your stories here have really calmed my nerves. when i first found out about celiac, i almost broke into tears. all my favorite foods were on the "Bad" list. but seeing how some of you have moved on past this and are leading great healty lives, its given me alot of courage. thank you -pete
